Hull Reflection

Gaps between our lines apart they didn’t score their goals from playing through us in midfield, all the danger came from out wide, and the first two from set pieces.
The first corner conceded after our inverted (invisible) full back went MIA and their right wing put our CBs under pressure, again.

Two full backs on the edge of our box, who should have been babysitting our creche on the halfway line if we could have bothered to stick them up there. Two full backs we gifted attacking territory to, two corners, one goal and one assist. 2-0.

(Andersen was also guilty of a couple of counts of half-arsed defending for both)

The third came about from a pre assist from Celar back into their midfield and Santos being roasted for the umpteenth time on the night by Millar.
Basic, fundamental, and arguably avoidable errors. We’re not helping ourselves.

Completely agree. Just like Millwall they said 'we're going to play our game', and we said ok then, after you
We're too lightweight and completely lack any kind of aggression. Every team in the Championship would fancy their chances against us at the moment, especially at home

look at the reaction of all the defenders, incl the one on the floor - not one of them appealed. No foul they got away with one there.

Agreed Clive, but we now have those two as an alternative, can't help feeling we played to their strengths not our own hence the sense of frustration.

Frey and Nardi drag QPR through clunky Millwall show - Report
at 10:02 23 Sep 2024

An incredibly frustrating watch, the only positives to take away - a game we should have lost that we take a point from, Frey’s well taken goal and our sweeper keeper.

As you highlighted, the one time we play the ball quickly forward we score. I’ll also never understand why, when a team like that puts you under pressure at set pieces, we feel the need to have our shortest and most mobile players in our own box. We had no outlet and were immediately under pressure again. Take Saito and Dembele out and put them on the halfway line – that immediately forces them to take 3 out of our box to cover and potentially gets us up the pitch.

Once Colback was missing from the line up the beer token pot went on Watmore to score. It’s a shame these 1230s are making it more difficult to spend them!

We never know the day or the hour

Growing up in catholic Ireland there was always some turn of phrase with biblical roots rolled out at the appropriate moment and this one was a particular favourite of my grandad. He usually used it on the untimely or unexpected passing of someone who was outwardly otherwise in good health.
I couldn't help thinking about that this morning reading about this yacht sinking

This bloke spent the last dozen years waiting to be chucked in jail (I'm sure life wasn't hard for him) but in the clear and celebrating - boom. What's worse, his co defendant got hit by a car and killed on the weekend.

You never know the day or the hour ...

Given that a rumour by definition is a story or report of uncertain or doubtful truth, I'd say we can be uncertain and doubtful about it.

I'm not sure why we think (not you Mr Mc) community service hours coincide with EFL ko times. Even felons deserve a leisure break.
