Specious argument and I very much get it, cheers. If the aides are primarily engaged to support the MEP's business in Brussels then it is appropriate to apportion the funds received from the EU accordingly. If it is blatantly used for specific party political work (promotion, publicity etc.) then that is against the rules. Le Pen pushed her luck and, as is typical for many of her ilk, thought that no consequences would arise from her actions. Well she was wrong... A (Gove-edited) Spectator article curated by a conveniently partisan French lawyer doesn't cut it for me I'm afraid. Soz |

Well, you're the one who threw out the term "far left" buddy boy.. and I believe twas you who have, on numerous occasions, offered seemingly unrelenting and obsequious apologism for various figures who should rightly be called out for the fashes they clearly are. So, am calling them and you out. If you don't like it, well I'll cry genuine "snowflakey" tears on your account ok ? There there... |

Evidence of these assertions ? If other MEPs have been embezzling funds for specific party political purposes then they are also subject to the law. It's a very serious offence and I'm sure they know it. So if you have anything to offer other than casual hearsay and rumour then let's have it... |

Far left ?? :D Yeah, proving thereby that for a MAGA-rooting, Afd, RN fanboy/sycophant nutjob like yourself anyone who holds opinions that don't accord with those of themselves and their doted overlords are immediately and indisputably Marxist. Your Overton window has shifted so much that it's fallen off the side of the building. You actually think JD Vance (ffs) has valid contributions to make... Hitler was actually a nice bloke as well wasn't he eh... And that Mussolini well, misunderstood. Clown ! |

Pathetic response. But totally what one would come to expect from a painfully ignorant blowhard dullard like your self... [Post edited 8 Apr 10:06]

I have read Law but I'm not a lawyer and I'm certainly not initiated in French law. She was convicted under Article 432-15 of the Penal Code apparently - https://www.equalrightstrust.org/ertdocumentbank/french_penal_code_33.pdf ARTICLE 432-15 (Ordinance no. 2000-916 of 19 September 2000 Article 3 Official Journal of 22 September 2000 in force 1 January 2002) The destruction, misappropriation or purloining of a document or security, of private or public funds, papers, documents or securities representing such funds, or of any other object entrusted to him, committed by person holding public authority or discharging a public service mission, a public accountant, a public depositary or any of his subordinates, is punished by ten years' imprisonment and a fine of €150,000. Attempt to commit the misdemeanour referred to under the previous paragraph is subject to the same penalties. Not sure how that allows for much interpretation (political or otherwise) tbh - and it's absolutely disgusting that the judge in question is getting death threats As for Orban - "Je suis Marine" Non, tu es vraiment un t.wat !!!! Nope, it is not any sort of attempt whatsoever. She broke the law so she suffers the consequences. That is exactly what Rule Of Law entails..... If people don't like it, tough tts |

Back at you Rich. Nothing happy about it so far - what the hell happened last weekend ? The Eggers fail to score a single point and then the Swans carry on just as they were by being beaten at home by a team barely less shed than they are.. Feels almost like we're back in the Cusack days.. FFS mun... [Post edited 3 Feb 10:38]

Unfortunately human rights laws are there to protect us all - from government overreach, tyrrany and general bad behaviour/abuse of power... Something it would behove us all to remember sometimes !! |

Ah was it when she said erm... err..... Nah sorry you've lost me - when did this dreadful harridan ever say anything that made even the tiniest, vestigial, infinitessimal amount of sense exactly ? (cf Hartley-Brewer) [Post edited 3 Dec 2024 12:48]

You're a bit of a joke aren't you. A living breathing MAGA cliché. Or maybe not..Are you actually real or has someone let rip with a bit of generative AI ? Hard to tell... [Post edited 15 Oct 2024 12:44]

I know, just imagine if he'd been given more time - he could have had lies written down the side of every bus in the entire country.. |

Sorry, my perspective is a bit different as I haven't lived in Wales since disappearing off to college in the last millennium (and not much in the way of family back there anymore ). I'm aware that there is a deal of frustration there from my fine countryfolk still resident though so you make a fair comment, of course. I'm really not looking to be an apologist for him. Frankly, I would have thought Starmer, being a notably sharp individual, with the machinery he has behind him and the hostility of the "popular" press might not have made such a daft and easily avoidable gaff (a gift to the hacks). But he did, so yes, call it out - but at the same time, perspective and that (cf just Johnson on his own).... |

I'm not rigorously defending anything, just pointing out the somewhat stark differences and the disingenuous reporting. To call me a die-hard Labourite would be something of a stretch to say the least - but, full disclosure, I really hate the 'king Tories and, by any objective standard, with righteously justifiable reason..
