one bad month usually stops a team being champions
two bad months usally stops a team getting 2nd place
three bad months usually stops a team making the playoffs
well so far october has been a bad month 1 point from 9

I don't know why Holloway is getting hammered on this. It was only a question, and a fair one. We have played 2 playoff contenders in a week and we lost to one and if it was not for the post would have lost to the other. It's all well and good taking points off teams in the bottom half of the league but sooner or later you have to play the teams at the top, so far we have not done well at that.
It's not time to panic yet but lose on Saturday and we could find a gap growing between us and the top 2. Win on Saturday and everyone's happy again. |

But you're talking about the Premier where games against lower sides are are a foregone conclusion.In this division it's less cut and dried and upsets are more common.Folly to take your foot off the gas.

And conversley when you're down the bottom it's not getting points aginst those around you that get's you relegated. Dropping points against Norwich, Wolves, Bolton, Blackburn and god knows how many others almost got us relgated at the first attempt. It was a great set of results at home all against teams we should have drawn or lost to (except maybe Stoke) that kept us up by just 1 point. [Post edited 1 Nov 2013 14:13]

Three points from nine is not great but we are still right up there and at least our one defeat was not a shock one; the leaders, away - never going to be a cake walk.
I think that we could be about to make a forward leap, if AJ and Chevanton can start firing on all cylinders. We also have one of best defenders to come back, Onuha. We look solid and we have ground out results. Getting Wally Downes on board should help, too.
To answer the question, I don't think there is any need to panic. We need to think straight, to accept that the Ch'ship season is ridiculously long. We will have bad patches, all teams will. Teams have come from nowhere in January to go up in the past, but we are already handily placed.
