Ok, it's more of a laptop question:
I have an Asus (K55V) laptop and have been connecting it to my tv for movie watching purposes. Anyway, somehow I managed to fcuk up the display settings on Saturday so that now it won't show anything other than a dark grey screen on both the laptop and tv screen. I think I may have set it to display on a 3rd screen - I was drunk...
Anyway, the question is, is there any reset I can perform that will cancel the display settings so the laptop starts showing a fcuking picture again? I don't have another display to try it on.

It might not be F7. My laptop (HP) uses F4 and the IBM Thinkpad I ad before was Fn + F5.
Normally you toggle around from Laptop only to external device, to both (not sure of the order). I've used those functions when doing presentations with laptop and projector. |  |

Do the screens work independently of each other? If so can you right click on the desktop and review your display settings? It may be you're trying to send the screen to a digital monitor instead of an analogue one (or vice versa depending on what you're using)? What cables are you using to connect the two? |  | | |

Does sound iffy. Does the screen work if you use anything else like a DVD player or set top box etc? If it were an audio issue I'd say you powered up in the wrong order and blew a fuse/amp, but the video outs should really do you any harm regardless of how they power up.
If the screen doesn't work with another source like a DVD player I'd say it's fûcked, same with the laptop's video card maybe. Assuming you don't have a spare caddy and the know how on taking the hd out and trying on an esata enabled device then it's one for a trusty repair shop (if you can live with them scrutinising your porn collection....) | | | |
