Which I guess is why they're recording acoustic albums and clothes shopping in John Lewis? Is angst something exclusive to young, poor, thin people?
| Even the bad times were good. |

Manics on 10:49 - Sep 17 with 2481 views | Lord_Bony | Nicky Wire still looks cool for his age. The fat one starting to resemble Richard Burton though. Bit daft really trying to write angst ridden songs about the working classes when you got a couple of mill stashed away in foreign accounts. Did you know they still live in Adventurers' Quay ,Cardiff Bay. Latest vid shot in Porth Workmanship club for a 70s feel. Heh heheh ....

Manics on 10:58 - Sep 17 with 2470 views | Jackanapes | Id be interested to see them perform the Holy Bible these days. I'm sure you understand my point. Maybe they should change their name. Sedated Wine Bar Fripperers(I'm not sure if that's a word, if not that's something else to be highlighted)?? [Post edited 17 Sep 2013 11:01]

If they are so angry still, will they give away their dosh to help the "working classes" of the Rhymney valley. Will they feck

I suppose anyone can be a socialist - it depends on what you're prepared to give up. Tony Benn giving up his peerage for instance. FTR I have absolutely zero interest in the Manics' new stuff, time to call it a day really. They did a lot of mouthing off about careerist rock bands in their early days and that's what they've morphed into. F*ck em.

I guess we do, however, to see them perform last week in a quite intimate venue was amazing. They really can perform well live, a lot of bands these days are dross live.

Manics on 19:06 - Sep 17 with 2298 views | exiledclaseboy | One of my favourite bands of all time. It's probably about 15 years too late to be slating them for whizzing on their "teenage rebellion" legacy. That ship probably sailed with Everything Must Go or at the very latest with This is my truth.... They've evolved and I'd say that they've grown old fairly gracefully compared to some of their early 90s peers. They're not exciting any more and having seen them fecking loads of times over the years I've no particular desire to see them again. Haven't bought the new album yet either, but I will. Although a little piece of me did perish when they turned up Strictly a few years ago.

Bet they wouldn't mind rocking it up at Strictly for the new series, with the lovely Susannah there this year

Yeah, they quite clearly left the early posturing behind with 'Everything Must Go' after Richey went AWOL, not much ambiguity was there, clues in the name like... Listened to the new album a few times on Spotify. Bit meh on first listen, but it's a very restrained, delicate lot of acoustic tunes (apart from Show me the wonder) so they'll take a while to make an impact. Wire's lyrics seem to jar a bit with the music for me, far more than on any of their other records; the melodies would suit more delicate lyrics IMO.
