I read a comment from one of the journos on twitter that the point of the transfer request was for the price to be lowered so we dont have to pay him his cut. He wanted to go, we were willing to sell, but there had to be enough profit in it and Forest were not going above £1.5m, surprised he dd not wait for other offers, but sounds like this one has been running for some time |  | | |

Nottingham Forest have announced the signing of Jamie Mackie from Queen’s Park Rangers on a three-year deal.
The Scotland international striker becomes Forest’s eighth signing of the summer and was a target for Billy Davies during his first spell in charge of the club.
The 27-year-old can play as a front man or on either flank and became surplus to requirements at QPR as Harry Redknapp targets new signings.
Mackie was usually preferred in a wide-midfield role by both Neil Warnock and Mark Hughes, scoring 18 goals in 94 appearances for the R’s.
Having begun his career at Leatherhead, Mackie moved on to Wimbledon, Exeter City and Plymouth before joining QPR in 2010.

spot on. And Mackie's not greedy. They probably offered him a half decent deal and a bit of love and he sensibly went. Really incredible actions from our club here. Baffling.

Yeh without the transfer request then we have to pay him a loyalty bonus. With the transfer request we don't, which means that Forest's original offer becomes worth more, because we're not paying him anything. |  | | |

If it's £1.5m it's an absolute fking steal. Experience of winning this league, 27 years-old, an eye for goal, buckets of passion and "the right sort" (Redknapp, Harold, 2013) and we let him go for a pittance to a supposed promotion rival. It will cost three times that to replace what we've lost.
