Akos to be offered a new deal? 13:55 - May 17 with 2937 viewsQPR_ARG

According to this website:

http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2012/05/17/exclusive-midfielder-to-b

I have to admit I didn't see this one coming.

wouldn't bother myself - but then I wouldnt bother with Hill either...

we can get better - and this could come back to bite us (unless its a 1 year jobbie)

Why stop now, just when I'm hating it

Dave Mc goes with the same version.

Would sign him on a 1 year deal, still got a good strike on him when it hits the target and can spread the play/slow the game down to give others a bit of a break. Would use him as back up incase of injury or tiredness.

Interesting tactic from the club. A 1 year deal on modest wages.

Will be interesting to see if Buz signs as he's expecting a longer contract on bigger money.

Need a decent squad though. Any players we sign should be first teamers and better than we have, moving guys like Hill and Buz down the pecking order. Both are still miles better than a lot of the ones who'll be on their way.

Bare bones.

Certainly good enough for a place in the squad and Barton will either be gone or banned so makes sense to me.
Think we need two new CM's though.

Smells like a trout farm in here

Not having this, reckon he should be moved on.

Why ?

Apart from 20 minutes against a very poor Wigan he has offered us absolutely nothing this year

Apart from the Swansea game and goal?

I wouldn't keep him (never a centre mid in a 4-4-2) but we don't lose much by offering 1 year deals plus it's then one less player to sign and have to integrate into the squad this summer.

If there's any truth in this then we have to trust in the manager. He's obviously not going to be 1st choice CM, but is good enough (IMO) to play against the likes of the Wigans, Swanseas etc so why not have that strength in depth?

Hughes won't keep him. He'll be a cracking free for a Championship side though.

Hill should stay and any one who says otherwise is a traitor!

Bit of a no-brainer this. He's a known quantity and he's already ours. Keep for another year on reasonable money as an insurance policy. Loan out as needed to keep him match fit. As mentioned, going to be a bit light in the middle of the park with Barton gone.

Seems quite a sensible move he isn't a bad player by any means but just not quite up to premiership standard. A one year deal isnt too much of a risk.

I suppose it depends on whether any championship clubs come up with a better contract offer for him.

I think we will see how highly Mr Warnock rated some of our Squad this summer.

After all these years he's still an enigma. Sometimes finds it hard to get into a game and looks anonymous but whether that's due to age, injury, match fitness, temperament or the level of the Premier League who knows?

You really believe he has only played 20 decent minutes this season? What a ridiculous opinion. Even the idea that he only had a good 20-minute spell in the Wigan game is nuts

I wonder if resigning him was likely before Barton's melt-down last Sunday?

Hughes used a regular squad of about 16 players during the run-in. Add Faurlin to that and it still leaves room to sign 8 new players.

So, to be clear, you don't think Barton's impending suspension was a factor in resigning Buzsaky?

I'll be clear - I agree that Barton's suspension had nothing to do with re-signing Buzz.

Akos has played a massive role in some games. His set piece delivery has been vital and against Wigan he was the best player on the pitch by some distance.

However he seems to have the still hang strings of a 40 year old and the pace and turning circle of an oil tanker.

I am not sure you can carry a mobile artillery piece around in Prem games anymore.

Yeah, it'd be great to bring him on as a dead-ball specialist when we get within a sniff of the penalty area, like a field-goal kicker in the NFL.

Surprised by the reaction here to be honest. Before Taarabt came he was our best player and although injuries/advancing years/lack of regular starts have taken some of his ability he is still a brilliant technical player that provides good depth for midfield. He is not a tackler/central midfielder by trade remember and we need different types of players for different playing styles, Buzz is one of those options.

One year deal makes great sense and if he can play 10 or so games with sub appearances he will contribute something

It's what some expect now. Spend millions on players to sit on the bench, then complain when the ticket prices go up

I would for the reasons already given. I still think when fit he has a lot to offer and as a backup option he could be very useful. I'm not sure how fit he's been this season and it seems he couldn't play two consecutive games well. He has contributed the odd flash of brilliance he once had, but seems to have problems sustaining it.

I would put him through an intensive medical and if he passes it offer him another year, although one of the relegated teams or Warnock might offer him longer.

Warnock wanted to give him a free transfer in January!
