Much maligned when he first joined, I’m now disappointed if he’s not starting, a beast of a striker who seems to be improving all the time.

I regret very much mentioning that he's well paid. I don't know any' footballer's wages. I have no interest in it But I have seen his. It'll never happen again. And if does it, I promise I won't mention it on a message board like a moron.

Let's just say that on the Footy Stats website they've mentioned an annual salary of 936,000 euros. I wonder where they got that from?

https://footystats.org/players/switzerland/michael-frey

That's circa £15k a week

Yep.

Roughly what it takes Rashford 12.5 hours to "earn"

Football is truly mental when I am looking at our man on £15k a week as "reasonable".
These days they literally have to sign one Contract for 3 years on a decent wage and they're done.

Getting back on track though --- it seems we are all on board that a fit Frey is a decent tool to have in the box.

Let's imagine that those sums are correct (Frey's is conservative)...

Let's also assume that these do not include the new contracts for Chair, Morgan, Lloyd.

I don't think, if you look at everyone's wages on that list, that there is a remote possibility that Nourry and co will renew Cook, Fox and Frey unless they come down in half at least. Fox and Frey are on twice as much as Field, Dunne, Smyth etc according to this. And Cook is on twice as much as either Frey or Fox. And they're all over 30 and they've all had injuries this season and last.

I'm not sure Marcus Rashford is a necessarily a realistic benchmark either. I think Dembele being on 178k and Nardi being on 780k is closer to the range we will shop in.

How can you not like Frey set against all the other strikers we've had for the last decade?

He's exactly the kind of ugly, awkward bastard you hate to see lining up for the opposition.

Sorry but I don't know how any website can purport to know the weekly wages of football players unless they've successfully hacked computers at those clubs, or some one at a club is leaking those details.

He’s also scored 20% of our league goals. Discard at your peril.

This is likely a salary from an earlier club just like the Steve Cook / Begovic 30k numbers that have been denied previously. Speculating on players salaries is pure guess work with Nourry at the helm, no one knows this information

Without getting all "Lassel" on the thread.

Players salaries are widely known in football. There are no secrets. Wages are declared to everyone from agents to letting agents, leaked from many sources. They are absolutely in circulation if you know who to ask (I don't: football websites might). Christian Nourry can no more control that than Gianni Paladini.

I saw Frey's through a totally different (and completely flukey) source, one that is 100% authenticated and I have absolutely no business knowing what he earns! I'm about 100 people removed from the source. He's on more than that website suggests.

Love the guy. Far more skilled than he looks and actually a bit quicker than he appears. Although he does have a very funny gait.

Added bonus that he smashes around the place and should be done for af-Frey against oppo CBs each week

Shit but local

I’m never in the know, but I repair fondu sets for a living, and I’ve just had a call from Michie Frey and he needs the nozzle replaced on his Käsefuhrer 2000 which don’t come cheap.

I like Frey but I've never been able to look at him as the same hardman he appears since I saw a picture of him earlier in his career with long flowing locks...

He reminds me of a high mileage diesel engine in a 1980s German saloon.

It probably won’t pass many performance tests, makes a lot of smoke and clunks every time there’s a great change but it’ll still get where you are going eventually.

There’s also a distinct possibility it could run for several years to come if it’s well maintained and driven responsibly.

Maybe best used on the Autopista at a more comfortable speed than shredding corners or drifting.

A large number of the figures on that Footy stats site are likely just based off data from the Football Manager game franchise. For instance Steve Cook showing on 30k was lifted directly from that. Its not accurate stuff, its one volunteer per club making their best guess at what they think that player might be earning. Fair enough if anyone knows for sure what someone is earning because they have seen the actual evidence, but any site like that is just coming from that 'guessed' data.

Frey reminds me a bit of a WWE wrestle, all pumped up muscles & tight shirt but no real strength.

Reading some of the above reminds me of Jordan Hughill but not Frey.

He has to start trying to actually win headers & knock ons and not just back into his man.
