The biggest problem is that although Harris is obviously sane and competent that she may suffer the Bible thumping middle states misogyny that seems to afflict any female there. I do hope not because Trump is increasingly thinking he's Billy Graham with an ever growing army of crazies.

Harris has been VPOTUS since 2021. During that time she has met daily with the POTUS Joe BIden, and has repeatedly, up until recently (post car crash debate), insisted to the public that he is in charge of his faculties and not suffering from the effects of some form of cognitive disorder. That does not strike me as 'competent' as you put it. The very opposite in fact.

They're well aware of all her faults. They won't acknowledge any because they're so scared of what's coming under Trump. The media brainwashing is about to be turned up to the max, but tbh I think Americans have matured enough to see through it. I hope us Brits catch them up at some point.

Trump has shrewdly read the temperature of the current mood in America, where a vast number of Democrat supporters have admitted the images of him surviving the assassination were impressive and inspiring. He therefore shifted the tone of his acceptance speech at the RNC to call for unity amongst all Americans and that he is "running to be president for all of America, not half of America, because there is no victory in winning for half of America."
VPOTUS Harris' approach was to attack Trump over 'fear and hate' at her first rally, and I suspect that will be the theme up until November. People are sick and tired of being called ists and phobes simply because they vote a certain way, and I think this election will prove it - don't forget, America voted in an African American man twice and almost elected a woman, so the whole "she's a woman of colour" and that's why she will not win argument is just stupid in this day and age. If she loses it'll be because she wasn't good enough in the eyes of the electorate.

Warning! This is a very loaded post:
Is there or has there ever been an extreme Left presence in your political system? Genuine question.
Is Jimmy Carter the closest you guys have ever come? Even he oversaw military action in the Middle East.
‘The Squad’ have voted in favour of Israeli weaponisation and austerity measures.
I think our definitions need updating.

I’m not a political historian by any means,no president has been extreme left but there are elements in our country for sure politically. The Green Party, Bernie Sanders is a social democrat / socialist but he caucuses with the Democrats. There are quite a number who simply don’t vote as well. We also have Antifa, kind of the anti-racist anti-misogynist vigilantes who will go bust up KKK rallies occasionally, when those happen (they aren’t that common, at least not to my awareness).JD Vance is interesting because although Republican a lot of his economic policies seem to blend in with Bernie’s, but then he blends in his extreme social conservatism. Definitely a time of political party upheaval. And everywhere across the country you’ll have a mix of everything, just to different proportions

Ahh I see, you need it explained to you.
Do you remember when all those Tories that lost their seats suddenly went from singing from the Rishi hymnsheet to berating the party on the night or, when SKS was praising Corbyn before the previous election and dropped it soon after or, worse, Republican Nikki Haley one minute praising Trumpet, then tucking into him, before another 180 to start praising him.
In fact, I recall Trumpet calling a presser in the WH, with all the Secretaries of State speaking one after the other on how great he was, only to then say he wasn't once they left office.
There are countless other examples. Hence the phrase, towing the party line. Trumpet as I recall was famous for saying how 'great, totally great' people were in his cabinet, only to then say they were shite after he sacked them.

All your country's problems can be traced back to an ill conceived night of treachery on 16 December 1773. Instead of keeping calm and putting the kettle on to make a nice cup of tea, you've been over-stimulated on quick-fix caffeine, and frequently, poor coffee at that.
Pithyness aside, my American family cast envious eyes at how the UK recently handled its power transition. Took five weeks to decide - not two years and billions - and once done, the reins were handed over in an hour or so, not three months, and without acrimony or a shot being fired.
I said it either here or on another thread, I'd be surprised if there isn't civil unrest after the outcome in November. The extreme disparity in reaction says a lot, and given Trumpet's spoilt brat response to losing last time, he needs to be 'managed' now! Oh, and when you hear certain sections of American society talk about 'Gaaard', they're every bit as extreme as the religious nutters they pillory in other countries.
Upshot - no pun intended - I think you might need to keep indoors, your head down on 6 November, and stay safe.
Ah honneywood, you warm my heart even as I’m drinking a cup of dark roast coffee out of my quick serving nespresso machine. Occasionally I’ll have a cup of tea, exported from Britain of course, with no genetic memories of the revolution, although I do love punk rock and metal, the Clash and Iron Maiden are in my cultural makeup
I can’t argue with your peaceful turnover of power, we had a stodgy, elderly gentleman resist for weeks against people taking away his driver’s license and democratic nomination for president, and a dictator in waiting take a bullet for the democracy
November 6 is a big day, the months leading up to January 6, which is Inauguration Day, will be cautious months. The vast majority of society is nonviolent, but the violent elements now are encouraged, a bit brazen and vocal, and getting ready for action

A lovely response.
I am so ignorant of US politics and only really get a view of it through the eyes of my own tribe.

I don't usually stoop to childish baiting, but in your case I'll make an exception. Trumpet? Really? How old are you, 10? Anyway:
Ah, the Twenty-fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution. I see you need it explained to you.
This is the one that addresses the VPOTUS' responsibilities in the event of the POTUS being unable to do their job.
"Section 4 addresses the case of a president who is unable to discharge the powers and duties of the presidency but cannot, or does not, execute the voluntary declaration contemplated by Section 3. It allows the vice president, together with a "majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide", to issue a written declaration that the president is unable to discharge their duties. Immediately upon such a declaration being sent to Congress, the vice president becomes acting president while (as with Section 3) the president remains in office, albeit temporarily divested of authority."
As far as I can tell, Biden has been declining quite badly in recent years with some form of cognitive disorder. VPOTUS Harris (or VPOTUS Trump as Biden referred to her recently at the NATO summit) has known this and staunchly denied any incapacity on the POTUS' behalf. Now there's towing the party line, and then there's jeapordising the welfare and constitution of the state you swore to uphold when you entered office.
So in conclusion, I believe she is incompetent for this reason alone.
p.s. It's spelled 'capisce'

It seems in America that as soon as they have one election they immediately start obsessing over the mid-terms, then as soon as the mid-terms are done they start obsessing over the next election.
Lord knows how they find time to actually do anything else.

Are you accusing Harris of being an incompetent mendacious opportunist? If so, then surely she would be a better running mate for Strumpet than Vance who is merely, singularly, an incompetent mendacious psychopath? Just saying!

I wouldn't even give her that much credit tbh - She's a puppet - A nice face (Crucially, a non-white one), somebody who can speak for ages without actually saying anything, and she is happy to let the shadowy figures behind the scenes make the decisions. A vaguely palatable representative for those who don't want to dig any deeper. Just like Biden was.
The issue they'll have, like they did with Biden, is when she's got to stand up and speak. She's hugely dislikeable, more than a bit prone to a gaffe, hence they're keeping her away from the limelight as much as possible atm, but as with Biden it can only go on for so long.

Not really. I base my politics on who I detest the least. If I based it on who I liked, I probably wouldn't vote.
I can see that the entire political class in the US is shitting the bed over him, and that amuses me greatly. I also think the Liberal parties (Which includes all 3 of our major parties) in the West have massively lurched towards socialism in the last decade or 2 and much as I recognize that some socialism can be a good thing in some circumstances (Still undecided exactly where, professional sports maybe), as a rule I think it's generally a bad idea and open to abuse. Capitalism is just common sense, obviously it's good to look after others, but teach a man to fish don't give a man a fish etc.

She seems pretty well qualified for a top political post, surely you don't get to be District Attorney for 7yrs and then Attorney General for 6yrs by being a 'Nice Face'. Speaking of gaffes, I don't think anyone's more prone, than 77yr old Trump.
It looks like she seems to be picking up the youth vote and I think Trump might have more of a fight on his hands than he would have with Biden.

"They" are the same people that've been running the show for the last 5 years. You can't seriously believe that Biden has been running the United States for the last 5 years?
"They" are completely unaccountable for a reason. I dunno why people defend it.

I'm going good old fashioned antisemitism, with just a sprinkle of Qanon. Plus, a side dish of Lizard people. For dessert I think I'll choose a fake moon landing.
