Happy League 2023/24 Week 36 (of 38) - Deadline Saturday 6th April 15.00 23:54 - Mar 29 with 4445 viewsmfb_cufc

Week 35 results

BRISTOL CITY 1 LEICESTER CITY 0

Anis Mehmeti's second-half stunner piled more misery on Championship title-chasers Leicester. No points for anyone from this game, as 23 predicted a win for Leicester, and the other 3 went for a 1-1.

HULL CITY 0 STOKE CITY 2
Stoke moved five points above the Championship relegation zone with an impressive victory at play-off chasing Hull, who never had a shot on target. Another game this week with no points for anyone, as 24 predicted a win for Hull, and the other 2 going for a 1-1.

NORWICH CITY 2 PLYMOUTH ARGYLE 1
Norwich strengthened their position in the Championship play-off places, as they came from behind to claim victory. 4 got this spot-on, and a further 20 had the outcome.

QUEENS PARK RANGERS 2 BIRMINGHAM CITY 1
Jimmy Dunne's 92nd minute rocket gave QPR a huge win against fellow relegation strugglers Birmingham in Gary Rowett's first game back as Blues boss. A magnificent 7 had this spot-on, and another 8 got the outcome.

SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY 1 SWANSEA CITY 1
Wednesday missed the chance to move out of the Championship drop zone after Jamal Lowe's goal earned a point for Swansea. 4 got this spot-on, and nobody had the outcome.

EXETER CITY 1 CHARLTON ATHLETIC 1
Cheick Diabate's 87th minute own goal earned Charlton a draw as both teams edged towards League One safety. A magnificent 7 had this spot-on, and one more got the outcome.

LINCOLN CITY 1 LEYTON ORIENT 0
Substitute Jovon Makama scored a 90th minute winner, as in-form Lincoln stretched their unbeaten run to 14 matches, to move into the League One play-off positions for the first time this season. Only 2 got this spot-on, and a further 21 had the outcome.

BRADFORD CITY 2 TRANMERE ROVERS 0
Bradford ended a four-game losing streak, thanks to second-half goals from Calum Kavanagh and Bobby Pointon. Well done to gerry_us for being the only one to have this spot-on, and another 3 got the outcome.

COLCHESTER UNITED (CITY) 2 NEWPORT COUNTY 1
Jay Mingi's 92nd minute goal gave Colchester a potentially crucial win in their battle against the threat of relegation from League Two. That late winner was good news for the great 8 who got this spot-on, and the 12 who had the outcome, and all U's fans everywhere.

SALFORD CITY 1 SUTTON UNITED 2
Olly Sanderson's double gave relegation-threatened Sutton a third successive victory. Only 2 had this spot-on, and one more got the outcome. 20 predicted a win for Salford, with 11 going for a 2-1 in what was the weeks most predicted score.

After three less than inspiring weeks recently, it was good to finally have one worth talking about again. It didn't start too well with the first two games failing to achieve any points, but the other eight more than made up for it, by producing 35 spot-ons, and easily the best for a 10 game week this season. It was also a week when I getting prepared to announce we had a record individual score, but the 92nd minute goal from QPR put paid to that, and stopped RSCOSWORTH from getting a sixth 3 pointer. Still a great effort from him though, to get the 2-1 wins for Norwich, Colchester and Sutton, and the Wednesday and Exeter 1-1's, and one outcome, to make him the weeks top scorer with an absolutely magnificent 16 points. Most weeks would have seen wessex_exile top score with his brilliant 12 points, but it is an honourable second for him, as he had the Wednesday and Exeter 1-1's and the Colchester 2-1 spot-on, and three outcomes. Seven members did well to get two 3 pointers, with the best coming from Madeira163, who had the Lincoln 1-0 and the Exeter 1-1, and gerry_us, who got the Exeter 1-1 to go with his good Bradford 2-0. They each also had three outcomes, to give them both an excellent 9 points. Best of those to get one 3 pointer was Tropical_Us, who had the Wednesday 1-1, and five outcomes, to give him a decent 8 points.

In the Premier I said last week of concordman, the title was his to lose, and after getting a decent 7 points this week, that included having the Norwich 2-1 spot-on, it should have still been the case. But that was not legislating for RSCOSWORTH having his magnificent week, and reducing his lead to 9 points, and at the same time greatly increasing his chances of grabbing the other Charity Shield spot. A decent week for thrillseeker, that included getting the 2-1 wins for QPR and Colchester spot-on, keeps him third. In fact all positions remain the same as the previous week. A decent week for ghughes11, that included having the 2-1 wins for Norwich and QPR spot-on, should be enough to see him in the Premier again next season. With just three weeks left to the season, noah4x4 needs to find some 3 pointers from somewhere, or he is going to have an unwanted record of being the first member to be relegated after getting more outcomes than anybody in both divisions. He is one more point further from safety now, after oxfcolu had the Colchester 2-1 spot-on.

In Division One With just 26 games left to the season, things are hotting up nicely at both ends of this league. For the twelfth time this season we have a new leader, as the decent week for Daniel, that included getting the Exeter 1-1 spot-on, has taken him back to the top again. He takes advantage of basher201 only managing to have the one outcome. That was still enough for him to be in the other automatic spot, but by only a point from burnsieespana, who closes in on the top two, after another decent week. After having the Wednesday 1-1 spot-on, Lewis_1 moved up a place to fourth. After getting the 2-1 wins for QPR and Colchester spot-on, bwildered also moves up a place to fifth. Four outcomes for BFG means he drops to the final play-off place. It is those 4 points that he has in hand over Blue4U2 in seventh. The decent week for Tropical_Us keeps him in contention for a top six finish, a point further back in eighth. Having the 2-1 wins for QPR and Colchester moved Colukev up a place, but he has only an outside chance of making the play-offs now. I have said a number of times the competition for the wooden spoon this season has never been more competitive, and it reached new levels this week, as only 6 points separate the bottom 5 places. Up three places, to head that bottom 5, is wessex_exile, after his brilliant week. The excellent weeks for Madeira163 and gerry_us moved them both up a place, and in the latters case, took him off the bottom. He is replaced in the wooden spoon spot by TheRams, despite him having the Lincoln 1-0 spot-on. This has been a real roller coaster first season for him. After a slow start, he gradually rose to be 2nd after Week 16. It has been a gradual decline since, to where he is today.

THE TABLES (254 out of 280 played)
(Tie-breaker: Most 3 pointers, and then the first to post)
