The employment of ‘scouts’ as you call them is no longer the first formula for recruitment. The club do take recommendations though. It will depend on the player the Swans want to look at. The player needs to be known and already of interest by the club before an approach is made and this is done by Paul Watson. The Swans rely upon TransferLab a data driven total solution for analysing players and at times Wyscout. Once a player is identified an intermediary is ‘sometimes’ approached to do the initial contact work and Watson will deal with the club and later on an agent.
The Swans do their own due diligence on the player and family, issues and associated antecedents.
That’s the way it goes these days.
