I had a mate in the Thatched House that used to call him '' shovel-foot ''
I wonder what he'd say about some of our current team ?

Memory might be playing me tricks but I always thought Tony Hazel was shovel foot and Gilly was Plug....
Great pairing with Dave Clements, still for me our best full back pairing

I think you’re right, my dad used to call Tony Hazel “Shovel Foot”!
Probably right about him and Clement although run very close by Bardsley and Wilson.

Superb loyal player, had the pleasure of seeing him play many times for the Rsss when I was a youngster. Probably my greatest recollection of his playing days was in his final season in 1981/82 in the developing Venables team that went all the way to the FA Cup Final and what a way to bow out on a great career.

As you and the poster above have pointed out, it's incredible to think his last games for QPR were FA Cup finals! Some millenials and Gen Z Rfosi have absolutely no concept nor experience beyond the fourth round.

To be fair, the Rangers have had some decent LBs down the years, IG was one of them and the first I remember from around the time I started supporting the Rangers.

Know it was towards the end of his career and in the 3rd but Jim Langley was my favourite leftback.... andcould take a penalty as well Jim

In the days when there was an England Vs Young England game the night before the cup final, saw Langley totally taken apart by Peter Brabrook.
