I have lost track of the spree of signings M&T have made over recent days and weeks. One could be forgiven for thinking they have a more expansive budget than some clubs playing at League Two level.
Which begs the question ....who on earth is funding operations at Park Drive?
After suffering a string of humiliating defeats the boot is well and truly on the other foot after signing virtually a new squad at break neck speed.
With the apparent recent investment M&T should have their sites set on The Conference South at the very least.
That could make for a very interesting local football scene .

Sounds as though l am a little behind on activities at M&T.....no less than eight new players signed in a fortnight together with a considerable refurb to the Drewitt - Barlow Stadium as it is now known - both inside and out.
I can't recall new owners at any level of football making such an impact in such a short time.
Can't imagine they will require a conveyer belt of Colchester United loanees going forward and it will be interesting to see if the two clubs play a pre season 'friendly' next time around. [Post edited 21 Feb 13:43]

Pip Boyland who was on the coaching staff of Brightlingsea Regent has moved to M & T .
Sadly Teddy Collis who at the start of the season had a U’s U21 trial and signed for M&T , has left Regent for Needham Market . Undoubtedly can play at a higher level, had a good eye on a goal, think the U’s have missed out there. Incidently another Regent player was a trailist at the Tractors recent U21 game . | |

I know very little about Maldon & Tiptree but I think "Four years of nothing at both Colchester United..." is a little unfair given that in that time two external appointments were made in Bloomfield and Garner and numerous players signed from higher division clubs, and some of them for fees as well. Now I'm not suggesting that there was much, if any, success in that period but it seems a little harsh to say the club didn't even try. |  |

I agree that Bloomfield and Garner were very good appointments but the club was in decline throughout most of their time here.
I can only speak from my own perspective of what l expect from myself and any music or business associations that l am involved with in my twilight years and that is ambition.
To my mind, and l know l will be in a small minority here - but if Colchester United miss out on the play off's in what l consider to be a relatively poor Division Two, then l consider that a failure.
I shouldn't mind betting the Cowley brothers may have the same perspective on that....and l did meet them and sensed the same some months ago.
I doubt very much Danny and Nicky would be satisfied floating around in mid table at this level for too long.
And yeah, l do admit to being very harsh on matters such as this. | | | |
