Each goal more farcical and easier to score than the last - Report on 11:08 - Oct 9 with 2847 views | Rangers67 | Where do you start with this sh@t show ? the good, Clive,s report end of the good stuff. A lot of what I wanted to say after Saturday has already been said. But I have to vent somewhere. In a seat a couple away from me was a young lad I would guess about 7 or 8 coming to his first game, all decked out in his new away shirt and bright eyed . What an introduction to football at his parents and grand parents behest. I was tempted to be angry on his behalf and for a lot of the game I was but as time drifted on during the game my feelings turned to sadness and resignation. Not sadness for the young lad but for my football club who like many on here I have invested more than 50 years into. When I woke on Sunday morning I was fully expecting to see the club had come to their senses and sacked Gareth. I really hoped he would succeed but sadly there is a man way out of his depth. His pathetic post match diatribes are getting more and more depressing. As I sat there on Saturday watching us long ball after long ball to some bloke called Dykes pretending to be a center forward I wondered how he thought this stone age style of football was going to get us anywhere. The one in 6 or 7 headers he did win resulted in giving the ball back to a far superior team to exert more pressure on us. From my position in the stands I tried to spot out coach on the side line at various times during the game and he was conspicuous by his absence for much of it. I sat and watched as in the second half the Blackburn no 4 pulled wide right to receive a ball from a team mate not under pressure and then proceed to launch attack after attack with no tactical intervention from our coaching staff. Now as Clive has said my coaching qualifications are next to zero but my eyesight is still pretty good and I can see this from the stand let alone the touchline. This brings me to one of the many problems with our club, our coach/ manager is being comprehensively out coached nearly every game. He has lost the players of that there is no doubt and what is very puzzling is the lack of action from above. He was the wrong man at the wrong team at the wrong time sadly. So those at the top bare as much responsibility as Gareth does. Our club at the moment reminds me of the man in the Stevie Smith poem Not waving but drowning.

Each goal more farcical and easier to score than the last - Report on 11:06 - Oct 9 by Antti_Heinola | I thought Colback was worse than Dozzell personally. Dunne I give a tiny, tiny bit of leeway as he hasn't played since halfway through pre-season. A lot of anger on here, but I'm well past it. I was laughing on Saturday. Because after the anger, it's either laugh or cry. |
Clive's made this point before, at the matches, at the forum....QPR crowds in the past have gone nuts at seeing far less. Maybe the fanbase has changed, and it isn't a who's the angriest competition, but I still stand in the Loft and am amazed at some of the laissez faire attitudes. I just don't remember it in the past, this acceptance of rubbish, of total incompetence and sometimes lack of interest. As you say - perhaps we are all numb to it now as it has happened so often for so long.

Sorry Anti, everyone sees the game differently but I cannot see how 1 decent pass in nearly 100 minutes of football is acceptable. Takes the easy option everytime, with a 10 pass back to where the ball came from, never moves into space quickly enough to take the ball, never breaks the line, never wins a tackle (or gets even close enough to make one), never wins a header (or gets close enough to challenge for one). Obviously not all down to him, but he is symptomatic of the I just cant be arsed malaise evident in too many players.

By going continually and witnessing the same mistakes in front of your very eyes but as has been proved recently an actual situation whereby It's actually getting worse then something has to give. I think at some stage, Clive, you predicted that Ainsworth would be gone by October. I thought at the time that this was somewhat tongue-in-cheek. It now seems absolutely spot on. Whatever the financial implications, I expect that GA will be gone by the end of the week. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

That’s an interesting point, something I was thinking looking round the ground for the last 20 odd minutes, 0-4 down. I put the apathy largely down to the advent of social media. In the past if the team were shit, the team were shit. The only people truly engaged would be in the ground raging at the board, at the manager and at the players. We had literally nothing else to go on or to vent on, so ‘face to face’ so to speak, we gave it to them in public and they couldn’t fail to hear it. Now, we all vent our spleens on here. Consequently it’s less personal for those involved in running the club. Invariably there will always be someone on social media that makes the case why, for instance, the board have their hands tied, why the manager can’t do what we want him to do, why players may be having a mental wobble for instance. It all dilutes everything to a laissez faire attitude, where in the end it results in the shit show being given yet another chance to redeem itself, though it never actually will. Look at it like this. If someone calls you a useless cnt on social media, you can probably live with it, if someone calls you a useless cnt to your face, it’s a different story. It’s football, it’s politics, it’s everything. It’s why nothing actually ever changes anymore.

Well said Ted but I would add it is the fans who are the longest suffering. I suspect FFP was designed for two reasons, firstly to maintain the status quo so that " little clubs" can,t challenge their favoured clubs and to a lesser extent protect clubs from being asset stripped. Sadly one of the side affects is FANS at clubs like ours suffering the misery partly inflicted by FFP

Excellent point, hadn't really thought of that. The ire and constructive criticism on here is very rarely replicated in the ground and I think you are right for why that is. Considering we used to be the grumpiest crowd with the highest of standards and even with our excellent sides if we went two goals down at home (even to giant clubs) "what a load of rubbish" would never be far from our lips. I still can't get over how the crowd put up with last year's loanees with barely a whimper. One half-hearted chant of "you're not fit to wear the shirt" and a bloke berating Balogun and that was about it. If ever there was a bunch of players that deserved to learn about what was not acceptable it was those loanees.

Got to say that, when watching the goals for the first time, I was shocked how half-arsed his effort was on the first goal. Granted, it's not the reason we lost but I was expecting him to be far more fired up at 0-0. He pretty much waves the cross through.

LOL That performance was as bad as it gets in the 40+ years I have been going to QPR and that's saying something. Bear a thought for my 10 year old daughter who I have been bringing to LR for the last two years. I had to explain to her on Saturday why we were leaving on 68 minutes. She has seen nothing but absolute dog dirge the whole time I've been bring the poor sod to games yet still loves going. Ive always thought well it can't get any worse........... then Saturday happened. I can't remember going to a game with my little one and us fully enjoying the experience. She gets we are QPR and it doesn't come as a shiny package as it does on Sky Sports but fu(k me give her something. Someone behind me in MU shouted out he'd rather one a Chelsea fan not long after the 4th went in. He had a point! |
I'm in exactly the same position mate. Been bringing my 11 year old daughter for the last couple of seasons. She knows it's a family curse, but somehow still wants to keep coming to games. We also left when the 4th went in as I just couldn't take any more. This is the worst I can remember in my 50+ years of going to games. We won't be going back until Gareth has been replaced as this it now well beyond a joke.

Thank you for doing that but I must say as someone who has loved this club for 50+ years, I have never been more despondent about our future than I am now. I’ve got my two kids aged 8 and 10 to get the QPR bug which increasingly feels like child abuse. I despair ☹️ |

This was one of the reasons I've been very wary of appointing him for the last ten years. We eat our young here. Could you stand it if a qpr crowd turned on Gareth Ainsworth? Well, we're just about there now.

I think with any other manager there’s a strong chance they’d have been chanting “You don’t know what you’re doing” by the end of Saturday’s game but probably refrained from doing so because it was Gareth.
Each goal more farcical and easier to score than the last - Report on 13:56 - Oct 9 with 2037 views | Bakes | A great report, I was sat at the game wondering what this article would say and it didn’t disappoint. Due to moving and a new job I had to give up my season ticket that I’ve held since 2007, I’ve gone to a few games this season, in those this games I’ve seen us lose 4-0 at Watford, lose 0-1 to Ipswich, lose 3-1 at Sunderland and 0-4 on Saturday, that’s 12 goals conceded and one goal scored, I took my son to Watford away and Sunderland away and he refused to come on Saturday, I asked my nephew to come along and he refused in the end I dragged a mate along and he walked out at 0-3. There was a family of 4 infront of me and they left at 0-3 when their young son was crying that he wants to go home. The point I’m trying to make is, apart from the die hard 500-700 home and away fans and the approx 8k ST holders, the club is losing the “causal” ,“pick and choosers” and I don’t think they will be rushing back if we’re in league 1. The club needs to take this international break and read the room, this can’t continue. How our “ Chairman “ who is apparently a huge QPR fan can think to himself that posting a selfie with KP is a good idea at the moment is beyond me, when I got home on Saturday night I put my phone on airplane mode to stop the micky taking WhatsApp’s from my Chelsea and Fulham supporting mates.

He's got away quite lightly to be honest. He's in a similar boat to Gary Waddock, fans will always love him as a player but just didn't work out as manager. Been a long time since crowd properly turned on a manager and wanted him gone in the stadium. Chris Ramsey got more stick in a game we won 3-0. Even McClaren and Critchley although was obvious they were at the end they didn't get much stick from crowd was more on social media Thats part of why i think they need to pull the trigger now because it could get very ugly next time this happens

Each goal more farcical and easier to score than the last - Report on 09:01 - Oct 9 by stevec | Think GA will be here for the duration. The owners must have sussed the only chance of selling this club is in a relatively FFP free environment, that is, League One. Think they see GA as the man to take us there with the minimum of fuss. ‘One of our own’ and all that stuff. Hope Amit had a lovely week at the golf. |
To extrapolate, I don't think it's paranoiac/conspiracy thinking (although I suppose it is) that our 'managed decline', which has clearly been systemic and entrenched over a long period, now involves a specific relegation brief from the top. Considering all the money that's been spunked on hiring and firing management teams and employing injured/traumatised/piss-taking players, the company line that we're virtually insolvent and there's nothing left to fulfil minimum recruitment requirements by, sorry, SIGNING A F*CKING STRIKER (about which Kevin Gallen on the WLS podcast has been tearing his hair for longer than is good for anyone's follicular health) is wearing thinner than an anorexic's hip. Perhaps Clive's grim/half-serious observation that, versus Blackburn, it looked like the team was deliberately f*cking itself is the most plausible hypothesis out there. (Or, I suppose, we might be both corrupt and sh*t at the same time!) [Post edited 9 Oct 2023 14:12]
