So Martin has managed 4 wins and only just against a poor CCFC...if thqta all you care about as a Swans fan then it's sad yes I love to beat them up the road worked In Cardiff for many years and in other parts of South WLes with fans of the sc#m....but i want more and settling for mid table mediocrity with our current squad is not that...but each to their own |

Kiss of Death for Cooper at Forest ? on 16:45 - Apr 6 by vetchonian | Whilst our current manager's only claim to fame is ? Oh yes achieving the double double against the "mighty" Cardiff city |
Talking about Cooper. Not deflecting from anything that is happening at Swansea. Several on here last season as well as this have praised Cooper to high heaven for getting promotion last season plus achieving a lower half position in the PL this season, having spent an inordinate amount of money. Now the magic touch seems to have deserted him. My view would be the same had Martin's team not beaten Cardiff at all

Kiss of Death for Cooper at Forest ? on 21:59 - Apr 6 by vetchonian | why because I'm putting the focus on our current managers failings.....cant understand why folk keep wanting to discuss the status of a manager who left us nearly two YEARS AGO. Shouldn't the focus of debates be on our current manager.. |
It is a football forum. Very often posters will discuss events from the near or distant past, some with relevance to Swans, othnot

Kiss of Death for Cooper at Forest ? on 22:11 - Apr 6 by Fireboy2 | Your hero didn't do it in his two seasons with us but Martin has done it in both his seasons though. |
I’d take a shot at the play offs every day of the week, even more so back to back shots at them. I’d happily lose every game to Cardiff we ever play if it means we finish actually where we should,

It beats focussing on the games that have been lost, especially as those two games are wins. The test as we both now know is how the side responds today,

Surely the issues with the decline in the Premiership and now in the Championship is the quality the squad and not being able to strengthen it while keeping our better players. Did the original owners see more money was needed hence the need to find new owners to not only safe guard themselves financially but to bring new money into the club. In the Premiership it was eventually the fact we didn't replace the older players and keep our better players hence the decline of the squad. Bringing in older players to keep us up didn't work. Similar in the Championship our defence continued to struggle while Potter brought in new younger players to stabilise the teams decline to supplement the lost of some Premiership players but some that remained still got older, the squad on the whole was lacking in quality throughout. Cooper brought in some strength to the squad with some good young loan signings but the overall strength was not improved with us losing some of them and bringing some older pros who weren't players to build a future on, Bennett and Hourihane. Martin has had the same problems trying to build the strength within the squad finding young quality in Downes only to lose him after one season, not having strength in depth but trying to be too clever with his player rotation and chaotic substitutions with players who couldn't to do or understand what position they were supposed to be in by the end of game. Could we have done better this and last season yes but is the overall strength in the squad better now, a little bit with young centrebacks, young midfielders and young forwards all progressing, will we lose some players in the summer most probably but maybe if Martin continues to be a bit pragmatic in his team selection and we continue to get better results they may see a reason to stay. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
