Worth it to keep him suffering, lots of his victims and their families still are. Death is/was too good for him.

As with taxes, death is inevitable. As much as I’d like him to suffer even longer I’m glad he’s gone. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Peter Sutcliffe dies on 10:33 - Nov 13 with 3653 views | ted_hendrix | I worked at Broadmoor when Sutcliffe was there, he was by all accounts massively obese and wheelchair bound, i believe he was moved out of Broadmoor a couple of Years ago. We built the new Broadmoor, I was involved mainly with the enabling works early on. Still to this day I could never get my head around the fact that Broadmoor is classed as a hospital and not a prison. The place is bloody evil and I once asked my escort who were the inmates who were staring down at us from a large window, "some of them are basically murderers-rapists and pedophiles" was his reply. the place used to make my skin crawl. I think the new Broadmoor is just about finished and cost in excess of some £250 million, work that one out. As for Sutcliffe I'd have gladly set fire to him and the rest of them in that god awful place and spent the money elsewhere. But that's just me trying to get my head around this mixed up muddled up world.

I worked with a woman who grew up near there. If you heard a siren you had to rush home and lock yourself in. It was normally a drill, at least you hoped it was.
Peter Sutcliffe dies on 12:13 - Nov 13 with 3523 views | TacticalR | 'Despite the 2.5m police hours expended on catching Sutcliffe, a mishandled investigation meant he remained at large for six years. He was interviewed — and released — nine times in connection with the killings, with officers repeatedly missing clues that could have led to an earlier conviction. In 1976, Marcella Claxton, 20, was hit over the head with a hammer near her home in Leeds; she survived and produced an accurate photofit but was discounted as a Ripper victim because she was not a sex worker. Police overlooked that Sutcliffe had been arrested in 1969 for carrying a hammer in a red light district, and an anonymous letter sent by his friend Trevor Birdsall to try to expose him. For a significant period, George Oldfield, West Yorkshire police’s assistant chief constable, was put off the track by a tape purporting to be from the killer that later turned out to be a hoax.' https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/nov/13/yorkshire-ripper-peter-sutcliffe

Peter Sutcliffe dies on 13:13 - Nov 13 with 3424 views | TGRRRSSS | My Dad worked for a bit on that build Ted. Great programme on the Yorkshire Ripper murders a I referenced the other week. 3 Parter explained the focus and attitudes of the time, which in their view helped things along. AT Broadmoor most our fat due to the drugs. No sympathy for PS but my view is Capital Punishment isn't right, besides with his being diagnosed as mentally ill, he wasn't or wouldn't have been given that punishment anyway.

Live in Farnborough now but growing up in Camberley we were one of the places where one of a few Broadmoor sirens were located and were dotted around the immediate vicinity. It was tested for a few minutes at ten o'clock every Monday morning as referenced by The Members (also Camberleyites) in their 1979 hit 'Sound Of The Suburbs' "Every lousy Monday morning Heathrow jets go crashing over our home Ten o'clock, Broadmoor siren driving me mad, won't leave me alone" I can remember a couple of times in the 70s as a kid being sent home from school and told to go straight home after the Broadmoor siren went off for real when they had a couple of genuine escapes. I think security got better there as I don't remember any other escapes.

As a kid the last one to escape was found in our local parade of shops! After they put another wall up and there wasn’t an escape thereafter, the siren would sound every Monday morning and has only just been scrapped. When it went off and it wasn’t Monday it sent chills down your spine.
