Ins & Outs + Squad Updates and Transfer links on 23:08 - Aug 23 by Kerouac | As the squad begins to take shape it strikes me that we should release or sell the following 4/5 players; - Declan John - Nathan Dyer - Barrie McKay - Joel Asoro - I'd also consider selling Peterson as I don't believe he is good enough (would love to be proved wrong though) and should be replaced by Jamal Lowe. ...and bring in the following; - 2 x Centre-backs, 1 permanent and experienced, plus 1 youngster on loan (Guehi if possible) - 1 x Left-back (ideally somebody on a free that can give Bidwell a run for his money) - 1 x Winger/Utility Forward - Jamal Lowe - 1 x Striker (An exciting young talent on loan) I know, wishful thinking, but if we could do something like this I believe we will have a good chance next season. |
Reckon you’re pretty close there. Bit bit of work to do with not much time though...

It’ll be Woodman in goal I’d expect. Love to see Celina back in that role though.

Corey Smith may well get the captaincy. I doubt he’ll be on the bench whatever cooper decides

Really can't see us wanting to re-sign Kalulu. Shown nothing all season

Ins & Outs + Squad Updates and Transfer links on 18:57 - Aug 23 by Badlands | To me it suggests Cooper has little self belief that he can work with adults. |
Perhaps that is because they can see through his reputation and understand how limited he is as a game manager.

Or the club are not prepared to buy experienced players and we have to loan good quality youngsters. [Post edited 24 Aug 2020 12:24]

I was hoping Mr Scott would be bringing in 3 or 4 unknown Europeans and lower league diamonds in.

Yea, are there any players we've signed that could have Scott's fingerprints on them? Kalulu? Sweet job that, suggest players now and again that you know the club won't spend the money to sign. Very little pressure or accountability.

Ins & Outs + Squad Updates and Transfer links on 23:51 - Aug 24 with 2206 views | AndyCole | McKay will now be doing his perennial flatter to deceive show, looking as shiny and sleek as his new Supercharged silver Range Rover. (Silver fox in the box is what we need though). The coaching team will be falling for this, and with only 1 more year on his contract, he will feature, for a bit. Peterson is here to stay, will be given a fair crack. Could be a long termer. Needs to get up to speed quickly post-quarantine, which ends in a few days for him. Smith and Grimes pairing could be unrivalled in this league. Mouthwatering.

I do remember a mate saying ( Bristol City fan ) that Smith tried to play too much football at times, maybe he has found a side with people who can also pass the ball.

Don't forget his background is with players of school age and it seems he is more comfortable but not necessarily good at working with less players with less experience of the game and life.

It would appear to be the short term part of the plan to get players that Cooper knows in on loan. Bristol City appear to be going down a similar route with their assistant manager appointments. When the players Cooper knows runs out then we will be relying more heavily on scouting young talent from top clubs. As long as loanees have been successfully developed then clubs will be happy to send us more. A lot also depends on what we are doing with our own youngsters and are they good enough for the division we are in. The strategy appears to be a blend of youth, ours and others, along with not spending more on transfers and wages than we can afford in order to keep the club financially sustainable and competitive. Presumably Scott has a role in all of thIs; it may not be the one that you expected/hoped for though and would be dependant on finances.

We could start with Smith playing CDM and Captain, Morgan Gibbs White ahead of him and Celina at number ten. A solid spine with the options of adding Grimes , Fulton and Dhanda. Defensively yes maybe one more full back (preferably a wing back if we’re sticking to 3-5-2) may do it. With Naughton able to cover if Guehi/Rodon/Cabango get injured . We should go balls out for Brewster. His class is undeniable and if played for the whole season avoiding injuries he’s got 25 plus goals in him. If Ayew stays all the better but if we get some coin for him we should be able to buy decent support for Brewster. I bet Routledge playing around him would also work if needs be.

Why would dropping Grimes for Smith improve us? How does Gibbs-White in centre midfield make us solid? Why not play McKay in goal while we're at it?

If Cooper drops Grimes I'll gladly accept the job when he's sacked in November. Gibbs-White has a reputation as a bit of a Celina/McKay-type not fulfilling defensive responsibilities. [Post edited 25 Aug 2020 13:53]

That’s an idiotic post to be fair. How do you possibly say playing McKay (a winger) in goals to replacing Grimes (a non CDM) with Smith (a bona fife CDM)? Have a word with yourself mun
