Also liked Huw Johns/footy. Fckn couldn't stand Brian Moore. As for other sports....Ian Dark/boxing....Peter Allis/golf Bumble/Benaud...cricket. . [Post edited 9 May 2020 17:23]

Every other sat after leaving the vetch I’d jump in the car as a kid, my grandfather would put on sports report ? they would go live to this guys game Summary and I’d be lucky to know by the end of it the score or even Sometimes who had been playing.

That’s Stuart Hall you’re thinking of. Probably best not to go there.

Alan green is just an annoying tw@t. Peter Jones was a legend. Des Lynam was a fantastic if rarely used commentator ( he did the Preston game)

eddie waring - he was rubbish, so was the guy who replaced him Ray French. he would describe every kick as " a good kick" no matter where it went.

| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Eddie Waring wasnt that bad but french was fvcking awful, towards the end of his commentary career he started losing his marbles which was a shame for the bloke. Eddie Hemmings and Stevo were an absolute joke for the game, all their comments were negative but as I've said previously ray warren was awesome, his knowledge and enthusiasm for the greatest game was second to none. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Eddie Waring was manager at Dewsbury RFC when they last won the Challenge Cup.
