McBurney is injured by all accounts, not badly, but being nursed through the coming weeks. Are we seriously going to rely on him this season ?

I doubt we'll add anyone of significance until/unless we unload Bony or J Ayew.

Yes and what happens when he goes to a Turkish club on loan after Aug 9th.

Therein lies the problem. If he hasn’t gone before that date a really sh!t deal is on the cards.

If the situation is as bad with some contracts as many suspect then the position of the person that negotiated them would be untenable in any normal business.

would be shocked if they didn't add a proven championship striker soon.

huw has been after jordan rhodes for years. don't be surprised if that name pops up.

He signed on loan for Norwich two weeks ago.

Can Adomah play CF?

Anyway..in all seriousness..I can see us going for Nelson Oliviera. Which is obviously a let down. Now that Rhodes went to Norwich they might want to offload Nelson to save up wages.

There is also talk of Sam Gallagher from Southampton. Another let down.

I would definitely take oliviera in the championship.

The creatures outside looked from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which.

We could go back to the tactical master move of playing Dyer as a target man?

Well..even if he becomes a starter he'll be one of those 10 goals a season kind. Good..But not good enough for a promotion push.

He'd definitely cost close to 8-9 m as well. Too much for what he can bring imo.

Maybe a loan signing....

Bony might be match fit by October?

Dominic Solanke would be a good choice.

He's surely not ready for the PL yet (although I don't think he'll ever develop into a top 6 clubs player but that's irrelevant)..Liverpool will certainly be looking into loaning him out for experience.

I expect us to be very active in loan market. We won't pay large transfer fees, so expect loans for CB, CM and CF. It saves us transfer fee but also allows likes of Fer, Bony, Mawson and Clucas to get fit if we can't sell them this window.

Makes sense... if we loan out our high wage players for a season.. loan some decent players who can make a difference to our squad..

if for some reason we manage to get promoted, then we have those high earners back with us playing next season. If we don't get promoted then we can sell them on next season if they prove themselves decent at their loan clubs.

Maybe we could look at bringing Abraham back for another season?

Clearly not a bad idea.

But I don't see it happening. He'd probably want to move on to bigger things and another PL chance.

Plus we spent 4 m last season on him + his wages..Chelsea won't accept less this time around and I don't see us spending that much on a loanee nowadays.

Also if priority is money, if Bony, Mawson and Clucas prove fitness / play well we'll get more in Jan. Obviously opposite works if they don't show fitness / ability but values rumoured so far seem low to reflect fitness.

I'd say McBurnie is a proven Championship striker. Maybe not over the long term but he certainly did well in his spell at Barnsley.
