The class-war headline almost stopped me reading on but the fourth paragraph sealed it with its southern snobbery towards northern-sounding surnames. Allied with the suggested League One club tinpottery theme, I hope the standard gets better in the next day or two.

It’s basically the same interview Dunphy gave me three years ago for my book. I suppose it’s going out to a bigger audience via the Daily Mail, but it’s not for me, personally, ahead of this game.

Tbf, the Chairman has quoted plenty of the stereotypes himself.

They do say there is no such thing as bad publicity. Anything which puts the club in the mindset of the general population is a good thing.

They are always going to bring out certain themes you could almost play Dale bingo in the next 3 days!!

eyes down......

1. Church organ
2. Cutting our cloth
3. Scott hogan
4. Ricky Lambert
5. Bottom of League one
6. Gracie Fields, Cyril Smith
7. overlooking the pennines
8. half and half scarves.
9. eccentric manager
10. local business men
11. record number of seasons in division 4
12. wealthier neighbours....etc etc

I do agree with that and, as I say, it takes old copy to a bigger audience who won't have read it before.

Just personal preference from me, that's all.

I'll be sure to wear a flatcap for the BBC cameras on Sunday.

No, the Chairman said those things, so fair enough. It's the stuff he didn't say, such as the names resembling a Rochdale Parish Council that ragged my pudding.
