Yes much better that the council tax paying citizens of Swansea pay this bill for the uninsured driver who crashed into a car which was "parked on the wrong side of the road".

Crime definitely doesn't pay.

I saw that this morning and my first thought was what if that uninsured had run into a pedestrian and caused the loss of a limb.

Just saying.

It's an automated process and once they were informed of the circumstances, they didn't pursue it. Not sure how that makes anyone at the council a scumbag.

He was driving without insurance and although the loss of his leg is obviously tragic, thankfully he didn't injure anyone else.

Strange attitude that he now can't work, think plenty of other people who've lost limbs would disagree with that. Still, sure the Post gave him a few quid for this 'story'.

You know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocket ship underpants don't help.

I never realised local authorities issue bills for clearing up the pavement after an accident.

Yep.

Usually billed to the insurance company to recover any costs of cleaning up, damage to street furniture etc. Given that this guy hadn't bothered to get insurance, that'll be why the bill went to him.

As a council tax payer, I object to Swansea council waiving this bill.

Who do I complain to?

Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back.

Swansea Council would seem to be a sensible place to start.

To the OP, why are the council scumbags in this instance?

Maybe the OP didn't read the article that he/she posted....

“We are not informed of injuries to individuals prior to any invoices being issued. Given the serious nature of Mr Jones’ injuries we will not be pursuing the payment on this occasion.”

After this cretinous individual spoke to the Post the decision should be reversed again and he should be charged.

Tragic he lost a limb, but he's alive to tell the tale and didnt injure or kill anyone else.
No wonder insurance premiuims are going up!

This lad should become a speaker to schools / businesses / organisations on the foolishness of driving without insurance.

Surely being uninsured is a minor inconvenience to him right now.

He should do talks on staying in school and not being a total tool.

Now if he was made to pay for his own treatment because he was a poor motocyclist and uninsured, that would be better.
