He did post a tweet in the close season saying Hilly was in for the Charlton job

I didn't hear anything about Hilly's future other than what I read in the press/social media, to be honest.
Nixon is a genuine journo (not a blogger or betting hack), but he's a Scottish journalist based in England. I know a fair few journos, but he isn't one of them. He's big league, or was, and I certainly aint.
Even though Nixon has moved in tabloid circles, I've no reason to doubt that his reporting of Charlton wanting Hill was anything other than genuine. |  |

Well, not so much contradict, as give it a negative twist.
When aware of Charlton's (or whoever's) interest, of course he'd contemplate what leaving would mean, but that's very different from actively thinking "I'm thinking of leaving".
