New Prime Minister 12:10 - Jul 11 with 5967 views | mingthemerciless | It looks like Andrea Leadsum is pulling out of the race. Apparently she's been upset by recent newspaper criticism. If she's so easily blown off course it's just as well she's baled out. Teresa May sounded like a member of Miltant this morning. Putting workers on boards of Companies, changing the direction of the party so it's no longer the party of big business and the rich ! How stupid does she think we are ? The Tories have always been the party of the rich and the wannabe rich. I know that, you know that, she knows that. [Post edited 11 Jul 2016 12:38]

New Prime Minister on 20:42 - Jul 12 by D_Alien | I agree, but the outcome will be the same If Corbyn hadn't been allowed to stand (and he wouldn't have received enough nominations from MPs) it would've resulted in a split by the far left Now he's standing for re-election, he'll almost certainly win the membership vote, which will result in a split by the centre/right |
You very may well be right. However, I think the centre/right are wrong to present themselves as more electable than Corbyn. Just speaking to people at work etc there is probably more enthusiasm, even if it derives from sheer bloody mindedness, for Corbyn than for a Blair clone. The centre/right need to grasp that Corbyn's success is actually their fault.

If a split occurs, the country will have an opportunity to make its voice heard at the ballot box in due course It's just my opinion, but I suspect both groups would be annihilated Not sure if that's a good thing, because we need an effective opposition in parliament. The problem on the Left is one of leadership. Out of Blair, Brown, Miliband & Corbyn, only one is or was electable as PM and he's now one of the most reviled political figures I can remember

He is. TB will go down in history as worse than TB, the illness for which a jab could offer projection. It's all so predictable. Corbyn will beat the wet Eagle woman, Labour will tear themselves to shreds maybe with a split, and the effective opposition so required will be missing. Bloody Hell, they can't even run themselves! You'd think the Lib Dems would be capitalising on it, but the wet Tim Farron hasn't got any gumption at all. After the inevitable implosion of Labour, who will take the blame in the eyes of historians? And it's not Corbyn in my view. He's a product of previous errors I think.

History will judge Blair and the Blairites more harshly than Chilcott ever did. They had the British political world in their grasp and blew it totally. Whatever happened to " Reward your friends and punish your enemies " ? Maybe that's what they really did. [Post edited 12 Jul 2016 23:31]

But Blair wasn't 'on the left; he wasn't even on the left of the Tory Party. it's not 'the Country' which needs its voice heard (a Country isn't a homogenous mass of like-minded people); it's the completely opposing views of left, right & centre which need voicing in proportion to the numbers of voters who choose each. UKIP supporters/ Tory fundamentalists (the real right) need their voice to be heard; Cameroons/Blairites/ LibDems need their centre views heard & equally for the progressive left. For that to occur we need a split in the two main parties, a re-alignment into 3 Parties and PR!

Blair was 'electable' as he posed no threat to rupert murdoch et al, so we hada labour government well to the right of centre. What is the point?, might as well vote Tory. Corbyn is not very left wing, but does have some interesting ideas, Mr Murdoch and Mr Dacre, and the BBC which is shit scared of the government, have decided he is unelectable, as have you. Labour needs to get rid of all the right wingers, and stand as it is supposed to , as a party to protect the interests of workers, the unemployed, sick and the disadvantaged. Capital already has its puppets, it needs no more. The way the uk is splitting, i see that the old two party politics is virtually moribund. Could be exciting times ahead

It's mildly amusing and not difficult to write. "Brilliant" it's not. [Post edited 14 Jul 2016 0:06]
