And being paid for it. Whereas I'd hazard a guess that it'll be financially advantageous to you to not have them working next week. You're in business, and most people including myself understand and appreciate the profit motive, but purrrrlease don't try to make out there's any generosity on your part. It wouldn't matter if there wasn't, most people don't expect it but it just makes everything you say sound a bit dubious when you're making out you're some kind of special employer.

Ebernezer Milly seeks Bob Cratchit type character. There's plenty of work out there if you want it, might not be the best paid jobs in the world but unemployment is now at its lowest in decades. In all seriousness, it's good of you to offer the work Milly and there are others on this forum who have done similar, i have first hand experience of that. The offer of a job is a very kind gesture. Full time vacancy (Labourer). on 22:53 - Dec 17 by milly | Beginning to feel that most people on here are work shy.Never get an interest and have to fill vacancies via other routes.Even offered to pay for the test for cscs card but still no offers. [Post edited 17 Dec 2015 22:55]

I agree, Hopefully somebody may have seen it or mentioned to somebody they know who would be very grateful of the work. Thanks for offering Milly I think its a good idea , you have no knowledge of who it could reach posting on a forum. Hope your former employee stays strong and you find a good person to fill his boots. Cheers

Dont understand where you are coming from with that reply. My employees are getting a full 2 weeks holiday pay ( plus bonus). If i had them working until xmas eve etc just tidying up (a complete waste of time) then they would get less holiday pay.Still getting the same money even by finishing today (at noon). | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Full time vacancy (Labourer). on 10:20 - Dec 18 with 1271 views | MBoothman | Good luck to you Milly with the new recruits and good luck to the unfortunate fella who was taken ill. Good to see someone in the town generating a bit of honest work. Myself I had to move away from Dale in the end, but wouldve grabbed this job with both hands had it been on a while ago.

Only aged 27.Worked for me since 17 year old.Ive seen him change from a mouthy know it all teen to a mature adult.Gutted for him and his family.Hopefully,he gets through it but i doubt he will be fit enough to do maunal work again even if he does.Definately will find him something to do should that need arise in the future,Maybe assisting the site manager or similar.

I'm sorry but no one 'slated' him until he came out with crap like "Beginning to feel that most people on here are work shy." - what sort of comment is that? Why not just say "Beginning to feel that most people on here have jobs" ?

Maybe i was rushed into stating that without thought first but, when i had a temp vacancy on here i got a few saying if it was a permanent vacancy they would take it.Where were these people when the permanent vacancy became available? I agree,a building labourer is not everyones ideal work and i understand that but these people stated they wanted full time work then never replied. I have a son (and daughter) and he chose a different work route but, while he was awaiting his opportunity he never turned down work with me.

Rushed into it? Hardly. You posted the exact same thing last time you were advertising a job on here. As stated before, no-ones got any issue whatsoever with advertising for workers on here, but it's convenient if it works - for both parties. Quit the crap about people who use this messageboard being workshy, quit the crap about being some kind of special employer and you'll not get the kind of responses you've had. Hope the lad who works for you gets the best treatment and comes through it.

Full time vacancy (Labourer). on 14:55 - Dec 18 with 992 views | milly | Thanks,i will pass the good luck message on. Not saying in any way im special but i do put things into order. For instance, when i had to break the news to his workmates,i saw grown men cry. That news by my estimate,we got around 2 days work done in a week which put the contract slightly behind schedule. Not many would accept that no matter the news.In my opinion, whats more important,a contract or a potential life.Id say the latter.Even i was not up to full capacity on hearing the news so i can understand the lads as well. Like i say,im not special but i am very understanding to circumstances.

Fair enough. Good will does go a long way, especially this time of year. Have a good break and let us know what you think of the team's result/performance if you get chance.

Full time vacancy (Labourer). on 15:21 - Dec 18 with 950 views | Shun | I find these threads even more laughable than bazingadale's and ParkinsGimp's. At least the pair of them know what they're posting is absurd. The offer of work is a kind one. But really, when no one replies (after less than a day I might add) why do you assume we're all work shy? Why not assume the logical notion that we're all relatively content in our own jobs? Bizarre.
