By the same token, I've never understood this "at least he showed some passion". Firstly, on the pitch, constantly giving the ball away, wasting every attacking free kick and corner we got for four fcking years, and getting sent off on four separate occasions for four acts of stupidity in vital matches for us does not equate to passion. Mackie, Ainsworth, Bardsley, Holloway - these people played with passion, to huge positive effect for the team. Barton played with ego.
Off the pitch he slagged QPR off far more often than Bosingwa or anybody else. Never shy of saying he'd made a mistake coming here, only came for the money, desperate to leave for Narseille, desperate to leave for Everton, never playing for us in the Championship etc. |
bang on Clive. Don't agree with much that Alan Shearer says, but he's right when he says footballers shouldn't be applauded for putting in effort, as that's a minimum requirement . Christ, for the 60 grand + pw Barton was supposed to be on, I'd run around for 90 mins too. So the only positive about Barton is that he ran around a lot compared to some of his waster peers that he played with for us. He's a cnt and is the embodiment of everything I have come to hate about modern QPR. He's the worst type of pseudo-intellectual modern footballer and QPR enabled him to be damaging to our club on the pitch and off it. He had 4 years here, ONE of which he was any kind of a player and contributed effectively, the rest of the time he was slating QPR, former legends, other players. He was getting sent off in key games, trying to be a budget Ronaldo in the team, turning previously well liked QPR into a figure of derision and hate that we’re still feeling the effects of. The fact he was captain of my team makes me die a little inside. A less deserving little rat you couldn’t wish for.
The few good things he did around QPR are absolutely massively outweighed by his perpetual and ruthless cntery and I look forward to the day he becomes irrelevant enough to lose his platform so I don’t have to hear his mis-informed, pretentious bullshit.
It’s a shame he’s viewed positively by anybody in our fan base, I have completely opposite opinions of how and why I love QPR to anyone that wants to sing his name or give him some kind of ‘heroes welcome’. |  |
