Those of you who have visited Pattaya in the past may well remember the bar on soi 7 with a large "We are QPR" flag hanging proudly in the entrance.
The bar was run by Charlie and his wife Lek and even though they sold up about 2 years ago I have stayed in touch with Charlie. Lek has been battling cancer for a year or so now and sadly lost the fight yesterday before the game.
I always remember the first time I stuck my head in that bar and asked if they'd be showing the first game of our first season back in the premiership (as everyone else had united etc on) and I was taken aback when this little Thai lady said to me in a thick cockney accent "course we are mate......come on you supaaaa Hoopsaaaah"! Since then I've been good friends with them and I know Charlie will be absolutely devastated at losing his lovely Lek.

Oh my god I can't believe that!I went to Thailand at Christmas in 2009 with my cousin and we also found the QPR bar in pattaya and had drinks with Charlie and Lek!She was like you say Thai hoop such a character,she used to pretend to spit if Chelsea was ever mentioned lol Really really sad,Hope Charlie and their son are ok.RIP Lek xxx |  | | |

I have been to the bar full of Rangers and SKA posters and they were a lovely couple, LEK would serve homemade stew to the regulars while sat there watching the 2006 world cup.

Went to Leks bar on several occasions must have been around 2008-2009 ish.
Was amazed walking down the soi to see a massive QPR banner on the wall.
So sad as had a nice chat with them both.

Nice to hear a few of you had the pleasure of meeting Lek.
Charlie doesn't really "do" the Internet so I'm going to print this thread and send it to him as I'm sure it'll be nice for him to know that his extended family in this wonderful club of ours are in his corner.

Whilst googling for information on Pattaya I accidentally stumbled across your post. I spent loads of nights with Charlie and Lek over the years before they sold up. I lost touch with them and I am devastated to hear this news. Charlie will be inconsolable..I am not a QPR fan but I registered onto the site so that I could contact you so that you can pass on my best wishes. My name is Derek and I am a Newcastle fan and we would spend hours upon hours talking football over glasses of white wine in the bar with Lek and Charlie. I have had many a meal with them and Lek made fantastic Stew and Chicken soups etc. Please let me know if you are able to pass on my message. She will be sadly missed | | | |

I knew that this thread was not from this year, and guessed that might not be obvious to other posters. I had to go to the 'Threads' tab of my profile, which displays the year as well as the date for all your previous posts. I could see I had posted on this thread on 30 November of a previous year, so I just had to look through any posts from 30 November in previous years until I found the right year. | |
