8M.............................!!!!!!!

Think if we got Gylfi and say 5M plus then I would be happy ASLONG as we kept Neil Taylor. As much as I rate Ben Davies, I believe that Taylor although not as forward thinking is far more dependable as a defender.

I'll drive Ben up to WHL myself if they offer Gylfi & a couple of million £££.

Ben didn't have an amazing season last year and Taylor is no slouch.

They're testing the water with that bid he's on a long contract so let's test their resolve and see how high they'll really go also wouldn't be surprised Liverpool will step in so bidding war

Yeh, cos decent left backs, and British ones at that, grow on trees dont they? FFS.

I know, fck the quota rules and lets have a squad of no English and Welsh players whatsoever.

Think they've got their timing wrong, as, on a day that Shaw goes for close to 30m, (which, I'm sure we agree, is insane for an 18 year old left back) they allegedly try and get Ben for 8m!

Ben is not a better prospect than Shaw but given that contract length isn't an issue in either case then surely the price differential wouldn't be over 20m.

I would happily trade Ben and a good few mill for Gylfi but for a straight transfer to Spurs we've got to be looking at 15m at least, surely?

All good points have to agree with you just remember we don't have to sell so hold the upper hand unless we want a swap which I'd go for

Id settle for a straight swap for Gylfi my self. We've got Taylor as a replacement and sighing that young left back from Falkirk also?
A cheeky new winger and we will have our major signings tied up before pre season! il be just a matter of getting the best deals for the Spaniards that will leave. Easily the most efficient pre season ever!

We are very lucky to have two quality young British left backs and the fact we look to be signing another one in that Scots lad makes me think we are going to cash in on one of them. I thought it was going to be Taylor the way his agent was talking but it may well be Ben especially if our interest in resigning Gylfi is true, I'll be gutted to loose either but theres probably never been a better time to sell than now with the Luke Shaw deal resetting the bar.

Gylfi plus £8m and then we'll talk.

Davies is better than Allen was, and worth more.

Tayor's a good player, but there's no comparison between him and an in form Ben.

Sigurdsson plus £10m and we might be getting somewhere.

According to the Mirror article, Monk will get all £8 mil to spend on a replacement.

Obviously just a personal wishlist, but I wouldn't mind us taking a look at:

Daley Blind (Ajax) (Next to no chance, but oh well)
Bastian Oczipka, (Eintracht Frankfurt)
Layvin Kurzawa, (Monaco)
Jetro Willems, (PSV)

All quality left backs approaching or at their peak.

I'd slap a 13m tag on young bens bonce, plus gylfi, that'll probably take it to 19 -20 million,

Way too little based on his first season's performance, way too much based on the second half of last season's performance.

Let's hope he was just overplayed and can come good again. A bit of a gamble either way I'd have thought.

He's a million miles away from Shaw though.

I'm not sure of that. I'd say Davies and Shaw's first seasons are easily comparable. There'll always be a premium for young English but 4 times? Not for me.

I don't believe he is a million miles from Shaw, far from it. Davies is an incredible talent and also home grown. With the figures being bounced around at the moment 8 million is no where near enough

I'd agree on the first season bit. However, Shaw developed rapidly and Ben regressed somewhat alarmingly. He was pretty woeful for the second half of last season.

Huge talent though. Let's hope it was a blip.
