Can we all shout "jacks" and this signing slips through our collective legs into the Reading squad...

"QPR boss Harry Redknapp wants to sign Steve Sidwell.

[...]

Hangeland was previously wanted by QPR but is not currently one of Redknapp’s transfer targets."

Strange article from Dave Mc?

mmmm,

is he any better than gary oniel , yossi, jeanas etc etc,.

can we not aim for a bit of quality rather than quantity of the same quality.

lewis holtby would be a far better fit for us.

to me its just another squad member and not a first team member.

looking at the squad, we've got more trimming to do of ex international 30+ players than linda lovelace's remmington.

(or aunt peg, depending upon your age)

to be honest if there was one player I would take from Fulham's squad it would be him

but do we need him or just want him? i'm guessing the latter.

Agreed, everyone we seem to be linked with is just an average player who wont really make the difference. We need to add some quality and if that means spending a little bit more, then i would rather do that then pay massive wages to over the hill players.

never too early for a proposed team, so here goes:

----------Green
Simpson Nedem Williams Yun
----Barton Livermore
Hoilet Holtby Traore
-------Austin

Those three players who wont cost more than about 12 million, and would make a huge difference. We need to get behind Yun and give him till January as well. Forget all this nonsense about Sidwell and Hangeland and Olsson. Its clearly their agents trying to get a move. Hope they all fark off. Next it will scott parker and then peter crouch. We need to improve from Garry Oniel, not go back!

I just dont want to hear that line for Harry 'we lack quality' we have all summer to do this, please dont buy into this 30+ BS, and go and get some young athletic players who can make an impact.

my Fulham ST supporting friend is of the opinion that Sidwell is one of the few players, along with Holtby to come out of the car crash season relatively unscathed, and can hold their heads up (relatively) high about how they performed all season.

i'd crawl over broken glass to see Holtby here, but Sidwell wouldn't be the worst signing in the world, with the usual caveats of wage level, contract duration and whom he's replacing in the squad..

Can we not knock it?

Sidwell on 13:41 - Jun 4 with 3463 viewsAntti_Heinola

yes he is better than O'Neil, but half the posters on here are better than O'Neil - it's no reason to sign him or them.
This could be a very, very long summer. Followed by a very, very long summer next summer when we have to sign another 10 players because the 10 we signed this summer are all too old.
I know we need a bit of solidity and all that but come on, surely, SURELY we can do better?! Feels like a Quashie signing.

On a freemans won't cost the earth in wages and chips in with a few goals.

If he was the 'right sort' surely Fulham wouldn't have let him go?

Didn't he turn us down in order to play for Reading? And got one of ours sent off?
A referees' marked man imo.

7 goals in 35 games last season is very good for a midfielder in a relegated side. His wages would be reasonable too for an established premier league player and we need another midfielder or two, so yes please.

Reckon he'll go to Palace though, he supported them as a kid.

If he did sign would that make him the first player to play for all four west London clubs?

ian stewart ? im sure it was a mop of ginger hair when he scored at highbury in the early eighties, I could be wrong

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

There's only one club in West London.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Don't mind Sidwell, watched a couple of games on Match of the Day and seemed to be the only one that could be bothered.
1
Sidwell on 16:42 - Jun 4 with 2835 viewsfrancisbowles

Probably a 'right sort'. Seems to be hard working, have stamina, man marker who scores goals, in the top division, from midfield. Could do worse!

Sidwell on 16:46 - Jun 4 with 2812 viewsqueensparker

I'm against the tide here, I think he'd be good. 100% effort and gets the odd goal

Ex-Reading, Chelsea and Fulham isn't great but whatever, it worked for Furlong

He could not sensibly be the only CM we bring in this summer, but would make some sense as a squad strengthener, I think.
