Saints And Spurs Lead Queue To Sign Bournemouth Striker
Saturday, 2nd May 2015 09:27

Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly in a queue of around 10 Premier League Clubs sniffing around AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

The Cherries will now find out what being a small club in the Premier league means this summer when the so called big boys come after their players, of course Bournemouth will want to hold on to the bulk of their promotion winning squad and hopefully build on it, but they will find heads turned by offers of wages far in excess than they themselves will be able to afford.

Of course they could take the view that getting a big fee for Wilson is a risk worth taking if they reinvest the money wisely, one thing is for sure they are going to have to improve the squad drastically if they are to have any chance of staying up.

For his part 23 year old Wilson has been a big hit since signing from Coventry last summer and has 23 Championship goals this season and this has put him in the radar of around 10 Premier League clubs according to media reports with Saints and Spurs along with West Ham United leading the pack.

Wilson has scored lots of goals for the Cherries in the championship and has been a key player for them, however, if the Saints were to sign a Bournemouth AFC player over the summer I would hope it would be Yann Kermogant I think he has been terrific for them, and could be the playmaker that we have lacked at times this season. Perhaps would be a replacement for Morgan should his long forecast exit become a reality.

Jeez, if we had Wilson and Mane up front, we really would have a reputation as the biggest bunch of divers in the Prem. Would be a pacey strikeforce, mind.

Doubtful if any of the Bournemouth players will want to leave the newly promoted club this season at least not before the January window. Right now they will be like excited kids with new toys and show the rest of us what they can do amongst the bigger boys. The answer is of course "not very much" as they will soon find out and certainly before January. Then it may be a whole different ball game for the better more ambitious ones. It also depends how much money they've got for squad building and FPP, if they need the money to strengthen in January then the most sought after players will command the best fees.

On the other hand Wilson might have shot himself in the foot by then by proving that Championship quality does not often translate to Premiership quality.
