I don't think any of the remaining clubs would want to leave the CLL but in fact want to see what can still be made of the CLL, however I presume that comment was made 'if' a lot more teams do indeed leave for the GMCL then the hand of the remaining clubs may be forced depending on how many is left or what the plans of the CLL are, but the LL is certainly not a reason not to join the GMCL. The main reason is it seems a huge risk in effectively ending the CLL to join a system that potentially wont be a better playing standard unless everyone is involved (however that wasn't the case) The CLL is ultimately a club run league, decisions are made based on a majority decision of the combined club representatives - therefore the CLL as a majority was against the GMCL but open to other proposals. The issue being that a few clubs have jumped ship prior to these proposals being finalised. In my opinion: - The Liverpool & district, Lancashire league and CLL are all fairly similar in terms of standard when you look at the top half of each league (or the 1st Divisions if you want of those split) Then you drop to the Lancashire county and Saddleworth along with the Bolton association all being closely matched (again not much between these 3 but below those above) Then maybe the Manchester league and so on So going back to the huge risk involved in breaking up the CLL, if you don't include all of the CLL & LL and only a few clubs join from the CLL then you have potentially weakened the playing standard at the top of the GMCL compared to the current formats (with the exception of only a few clubs I can think of) The issue was indeed getting the majority to buy into the GMCL from the beginning, now that only a few have so far jumped ship it will depend on numbers and the strength of teams that do join the GMCL against what is left in the CLL that will ultimately affect clubs long term decisions. Like I said before the leagues in the area needed change, CLL included but it needed to be something that the majority bought into across all standards - once this didn't happen other options should have been pursued before teams took the leap of faith |

Mixed feelings on this. The Cll needed change but it would have been better had some sort of merge with the lancashire league taken place. The GMCL is a huge gamble, you could argue that 75% and above of the current cll would end up competing in the top divisions of the gmcl if they were all to go, so the gamble by some to leave so early could mean they are left playing an even worse standard although with more teams/ divisions if more dont follow. Then there is travelling to consider alongside the gmcl proposal being a 'professional' league - therefore an open league. It will be interesting if heywood stick to their promise of providing youngsters the best standard of cricket or if they ditch that when every one else is paying a few quid to be higher up the gmcl system The knock on affect of some clubs leaving so early before all the cards have been dealt could be detrimental to all leagues for sometime. |

Might be me looking at it too simply, but i always presumed there always was an admin charge for things like this. You are essentially reserving a ticket, same way as you would by doing something similar online so there are steps in place to ensure this is held and in the correct details etc. You never know the game could actually be a sell out (wishful thinking i know) but because you have 'reserved' your ticket you wont miss out. |

Ha no idea but what ever he did must have worked to catch someones eye. You are right, maybe not that many but we shouldnt be quick to right off players like Byrne. We only have to look at recent ex-non league clubs that are now climbing quickly up the ladder! |

Skem vs radcliffe borough...to be fair there is less yrs between the two of them than i thought, but the point i was trying to make is how gems can be found but its trial and error some will work and some wont! |

You lot want to have a good look in the mirror! Half the current squad/ accy team worked their way up from non league. There is a lot of potential in non league football but you need to look in the right places and dont get on a high horse about it! Give youth a chance but most importantly have scouts looking at the right players. I remember watching a 18yr old craig dawson have mr donelly in his pocket for two games yet it took two yrs later for someone to take a chance on a cd then it did for gd!! |
