Plymouth's fire power
at 09:50 23 Nov 2024

Plymouth Argyle have had problems scoring goals (was it zero shots at Leeds?) but did anyone see Andre Gray's two goals for them last night? Not much good at 'pressing' but he knows what that white-painted structure is behind the opposition's defence.

International break
at 09:17 2 Sep 2024

A couple of weeks on the training ground. A chance to work on weaknesses and to develop new ideas. Or, a couple of weeks when the players lose the edge that comes from playing regularly? It must be hard to manage.

Does it make anyone else nervous?

There is only one... thing to be focused on
at 12:21 14 Apr 2024

Lyndon Dykes does not score goals; Sinclair Armstrong falls over too often and complains to the ref; Paul Smyth misses sitters; Asmir Begovic is apt to flap; Chris Willock blows hot and cold; Ilias Chair keeps the ball too long and Taylor Richards... who is he?

But, there is only one thing to be focused on this week and that is how to beat Preston North End on Saturday evening. Come on you Rs!!!!!

I do not understand
at 08:55 15 Feb 2024

Despite having had a close interest in football for some 70 years, I genuinely do not understand how a squad of players that delivered the exciting and uplifting performance against Norwich on Saturday could perform so differently just four days later.

If Stoke City had been brilliant, then perhaps it would have been understandable. But, they were not. They looked a poor team.

Was it the lack of atmosphere - 11,000 empty seats compared with that full house at Loftus Road? Surely not? Our players are professional sportsmen that had a job to do. Yes, the atmosphere matters, but there must be more to it than that.

It is something else and I simply do not understand it.

What is the explanation?

A winning run
at 09:29 11 Feb 2024

If we win the next 15 games, we shall finish with 74 points (in certain seasons, enough for sixth place).
Ian Gillard was there yesterday... to advise on how to put together a decent winning run.

NEW YEAR RESOLUTION - STILL TIME?
at 10:07 7 Jan 2024

I wonder if we could resolve not to engage in personal abuse on this board? Some of the post-match comments in the Bournemouth thread (Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch-Ch Cherries bomb us out the cup) play the man instead of the ball. Of course, we have different opinions, but could we express them with respect? After all, in the final analysis, we are all on the same side.

Note for Lyndon.
If you have a spare moment during the game, watch what that Norwegian with the long blonde hair and the headband does. Then bring what you have learnt back to Loftus Road.

Analysis of performance

I have read that our 'Performance Analyst' has left to join West Ham after many years at QPR.
Sounds like a good chap.
Sadly, he must have become bored delivering much the same report for weeks on end.

Not good to tell players they have not tried hard enough (non QPR)
at 11:31 4 Feb 2023

I have just had this online story pop up on my screen:

'Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira removed Shaun Derry as a first team coach in a row for overstepping in his role after he was caught repeatedly berating players. The former Arsenal midfielder confirmed earlier this week Derry was set to step down from his role as Eagles first-team coach but refused to go into details. However, Sportsmail can reveal that the relationship between Vieira and Derry broke down as far back as October, when Palace suffered a 3-0 defeat to strugglers Everton. The Frenchman entered the dressing room to find his first-team coach Derry berating the players after their dismal performance at Goodison Park. Derry's comments were focused on passion and playing for the Palace badge with pride, but the problem being such displays of passion are not Vieira's style - and even worse it was not the only time it has happened.'

'Passion and playing with pride' was Sean Derry's style when he was with QPR. It seems to be an out-dated concept at Crystal Palace. Could it work here?
