But that’s the problem. If he has to move to the middle it means we bring on the terminally useless Ashby and that’s why we need a competent new right back.
If what now seems inevitable does happen despite the Assistant Manager’s attempt to gaslight us today, then we badly need a new Championship standard right back by Monday night.
The “fancy Dan Soton loan” won’t offer Dunne’s considerable threat at set pieces or his inspirational qualities on the pitch but I think he’s the best option we’ve got and should be pretty solid until we can hopefully bring a decent right back in at the end of the season.
Glad I’m going to be out of the country for the Sheffield United game now because the idea of seeing him putting one in our net would be a bit too much!
Yep, if we do have to do without him I certainly agree that Ronnie Edwards would be my choice to fill in at right back for the rest of the season, provided we’ve got two fit centre-backs and he’s not needed there. If he is, maybe the five at the back you suggested would be the best option.
Because I believe Clive’s description of Jimmy Dunne as currently being the “heartbeat of the team” is 100% correct. Without him we become very vulnerable on our right flank, our goal scoring threat at set pieces is gone and the morale of the team is going to be severely impacted.
The Anne Robinson period was particularly dire. She took a delight in making the contestants feel uncomfortable. Someone should have told her that it wasn’t “The Weakest Link.”
It continues to grate on me that his participation in “I’m a Celebrity….” cemented his status as the Nation’s favourite cheerful cockney chappie. It’s probably only us and Southampton and possibly Portsmouth fans who realise what he’s really like.
Weather forecast for London looks to be ok for tomorrow. Cold but mostly sunny with light winds. If it is it will make a pleasant change from the storms that seem to have accompanied every other Saturday home game for the last couple of months.
Yep when you compare the attitude of the team we’ve got now to the awful one the players had in the Beale season a couple of years ago that virtually stank the place out, the difference is incredible.
Ah come on, you must admit the opportunities for schadenfreude are delicious after all the years of Fergie time and Ashley Young’s club-encouraged cheating that got Shaun Derry sent off at Old Trafford in 2012.
Probably because we give him the freedom of the pitch every time he plays against us. Let’s hope we’ve finally learned our lesson for Saturday. The sight of the tvat celebrating in front of the Loft is one I never want to see again. Personally I’d put Morgan on him because he’s less likely to get sent off than Colback and has the energy to keep on top of Bannan all the time they’re in possession.
