Nardi first arrival, epitomising QPR’s about face – Signing
at 22:32 2 Jul 2024

'ChatGP Nourry" ......

He seems like a keeper who has a decent skill base, with some identified weaknesses, but one that a good coach can improve. Not a bad free transfer at all.

Who is going down this season?
at 15:16 26 Jun 2024

Oxford are not a bad side and may do very well this season. How long Wayne Rooney will persevere in trying to create a reputation for himself as a competent manager is anyone's guess. In the meantime, Plymouth are a worthy candidate for relegation.

There are an awful lot of similarities. Maybe it's just a coincidence as I'm sure the club wouldn't want to be found guilty of plagiarism.

Like Grealish etc, their reputations sometimes grow in their absence from a team.

I thought it might have been Keith Stroud making that decision, it was so poor.

Atwell, that ends well, (for the French).

Given his experience, I heard HMRC are expanding their Customs & Excise wing, something to do with trying to collect more of their "Brexit dividend" or something similar. He'd know all about that.

F.A.Cup Final Match Thread - Non QPR - This Year!
at 07:16 25 May 2024

I have no interest in the FA Cup final whatsoever.

The European Champions Rugby Cup final is kicking off at 2.45 and I'll be watching that. On paper, that promises to be a much closer and more exciting match between two, ahem, heavyweights of the game.

where will we finish next season...
at 00:04 23 May 2024

There really is no point in speculating right now, let's wait until the transfer window closes and we can judge the quality of players we'll have then.

I strongly suspect that the team that will start the first league match next season will be considerably different from the team that finished the last one.

Best debut goal?
at 19:51 20 May 2024

Didn't Clive Allen score a hat-trick on his first start against Coventry in the season we got relegated? While technically not his debut, I think it's close enough...

I remember the newsreader saying that night that his name wasn't even on the match programme!

Liverpool will probably need to backfill for Salah this summer, and Eze is probably the most ideal candidate to do so.

I think the format is changing for Sky coverage of the EFL next season, so you're not going to be comparing like with like. It'll be coverage of football from Monday to Sunday like you've never seen before. Regular Saturday 3pm kick offs will be a thing of the past. We'll be told that we have to move with the times!

Players we should have kept
at 11:46 10 May 2024

Gorkss, Connolly, Smith etc. Players from the Championship winning team who bonded so well together, but had to make way for the mercenaries. We would have been better off keeping a close-knit squad together, come what may. But the new owners wanted to play real-life fantasy football instead.

LFW Trip Advisory- San Francisco

Other than what's been recommended already.

Go beyond Sausalito to a redwood forest, just to experience seeing sequoia trees in real life.

Go to a baseball match, either the Giants or the Oakland A's.

If you have a day to spare, go north to Napa or Sonoma and visit a winery or two. The restaurants are great there too.

Enjoy the trip.

The Coventry Conference – Report
at 11:56 7 May 2024

Thanks Clive for your dedication to this website. It's clearly a vocation and is a support to all of us as we navigate a chart through the peaks and troughs of a typical season, while trying to maintain some semblance of sanity.

Looking forward, I can't help but wonder how few of those who played on Saturday might be playing for us next season. Some are out of contract/loan players, some need to be moved on, and a few should be high on the target list for other clubs over the summer.

QPR: Walsh 8; Cannon 5, Cook 7, Fox 7, Paal 6 (Smyth 89, -); Hayden 6 (Field 62, 6), Dixon-Bonner 7 (Armstrong 81, -); Willock 7 (Colback 62, 6), Andersen 7 (Adomah 62, 6), Chair 8; Dykes 6

Keeping our loved assets

Jim Gregory normally came out the right side of transfer deals, unlike most of those who followed him. West Ham had to pay a world record fee for a goalkeeper at the time, and Parkes only had a handful of caps. The sale of Allen and Goddard also allowed the club to build a new stand. Allen, as we all know, returned to the club soon afterwards, although I never found out how much we paid Palace for him.

Rotherham Keeper buys fans 600 pints
at 14:14 2 May 2024

That's a nice gesture, albeit one at 9.00am. I'd say a lot of clubs would be very happy to sign him this summer.

I'd ask which of those current or ex-players would your conscience allow you to accept a pint from? That should narrow down the list of in-scope players considerably.

The semi final, per their world rankings, is:

29th vs 44th; 12th vs 31st

This reminds me of when Greece won the Euros in 2004 and the bookies won all the bets placed before the tournament started.
