Tend to agree Rich - my frustration so far in LW’s short tenure was perfectly illustrated in yesterday’s game in that we had circa 50% possession, 50% corners, 50% time in opposition half etc etc yet we had less than half as many attempts on goal (on & off target) so our goalkeeper is worked twice as hard which tends to lead to conceding goals unless our GK has a blinder.
That’s why for me a good finisher/striker plus goal scoring ‘10’ are key to the next 5 weeks (plus ideally another experienced CB). |

Think this is Koln’s 6th pre-season match having won 4 & drawn 1 of the previous five - scored 33 goals too so should be a tough ask for us. |

I’m ok with Grimes setting our tempo just needs to be 10/15 yards further forward & looking in that direction so if this guy - if he comes of course - can provide the safety net behind Grimes & in front of our back 4 that would be a welcome addition for me.
Also helps that his name allows for easy chanting on repeat! |

Maybe but can you see us paying a £3M signing on fee - might allow us to get him within our wages structure but still £3M! |

Not an issue for me from either side - Pato is 33 in December so this is probably his last decent, in football terms, contract so he’s obviously going to want a 2/3 year contract on what he/his agent see as top money. We on the other hand are trying to ‘manage’ our wage bill & so for a player his age with no obvious connection to the club a 12 month deal is clearly the better option.
So it’s now a game of poker to see who moves first - as long as we have contingencies in place a little time e.g. 2/3 weeks is just fine. |
