Same view A bit more attack minded than v Daggers and started brightly. Credit to Tamworth they didn’t sit and defend and got better as the first half wore on. Second half started with us doing all of the pressing and sense that we were finally going to break through. Whether that would have happened without the sending off is for the trousers of time to know, sending off was the pivotal moment. East was pulling strings all game and Okeke good going forward. Need to get Kairo back in the goals since his injury like we did at the start of the season, once he starts, he doesn’t stop. Maybe Sat for that. |

Yesterday stats Shots on goal Daggers 2 Dale 0 Possession Dale 57% Buyabu looks to have had all attacking mentality drained from him as his time with Dale has gone on Tobi likewise looks far less attack minded than earlier in the season It’s not a one off. The rare occasions of us going for it e.g Aldershot away are exactly that. Rare. It’s not a 2024-2025 thing. The squad has been re-built over the summer but the same approach and occasional consequence (goal conceded such as Barnet away) Every game we play seems to be ‘we could nick this 1-0’ approach Daggers are a rank average team with little threat other than long throw ins. We treated them like they were Real Madrid. |

Daggers are awful to watch. Their only tactic is to get a throw in in the opposition half and do a long throw in. Their goal came from us having a direct free/kick front and centre. Everybody piled forward. It was hit into the wall, they broke, good cross and finish. Our only tactic of methodical slow passing was on show and we created little. Thankfully these two teams have played each other twice now and the non spectacle borefest won’t be repeated. |

I hope we take this completely seriously unlike Oldham. We are a conference team and should compete for this seriously. Our trophy cabinet is hardly over-flowing and this is a tournament which we reasonably could have a chance of winning if we took fully on. Success breeds success. |

Gateshead were head and shoulders above us in all games last season. None of that tonight. Game was very even until the sending off when it became a cat and mouse game, with Jerry winning. Great to see Gilmour back, Rodney back again gaining match fitness. Keeper made two awesome saves for us, theirs pulled off a blinder first half too, save of the game that was. |

We won’t. It is risk reward. We risk giving goals away and reward is a pass from the midfielder to a defender then square to the keeper. |

Gordon Beckwith Hogan Babayo With Tobi and Tarryn further up on each wing. Once we reverted to 5 at the back Babayo had acres of space as a wing back and was much further forward That’s how i saw it at least. [Post edited 12 Oct 21:42]

First half i gave to Fylde as i felt they controlled more of it than us. Second half was starting to get a bit better then the goal lit the bonfire alight and we never looked back. Schoolyard scramble in their 6 yard box then poked home by KM Second was Fylde passing it across the back 4 (3 times) before Buyabu robbed their right back, put in a perfect pass and KM finished nicely Robson assist for the 3rd, got to be honest thought it was a touch offside but linesman was happy and a great lob finish for the hat. Henryesque free-kick by Barlow for the 4th. Two specialists? We are blessed. Looked like 4 at the back until Tav went off after 65, reverting to 5 after that. |

The penalty was pretty much the same as that at Eastleigh, no need to dive in, player going nowhere etc. We do have a young team and mistakes are going to happen, but we did look a bit lost for 10 minutes or so when they had scored. Disappointing but something the lads can learn from again. |

I only remember 3 Eastliegh attacks in the first half 1. Keeper brings down forward, yellow due to covering defender 2. Keeper misses punch, defender juggles ball, their lad nods in 3. Corner routine. Cross - header - goal. Must have confused us by its simplicity Other than that i thought we were good, creating and missing chances, odd bad final pass, very threatening. Second half, can’t really fathom what was going on. Rodney non penalty then they score a walk in goal 10 seconds later? Losing possession in our own box and then fouling for a penalty. Winning a free kick, taking it quickly to a man who is offside. Poor decisions being made time and again. Rodney goal was a good one. Good pass and run/finish. Strange and frustrating game |

Mitchell is bang on fire and both goals were those of a man who knows this. East’s goal was simply awesome. Cruise control, knock it around, bore the pants of the opposition time. Erm, far from it. Lose the ball in our defensive 3rd, a wonderful bit of slalom by their lad past 3 or 4 players and it’s 3-1. We didn’t fall to pieces, Maidenhead were instead great. Full out attack on both wings, switching the ball time and again from RB to LW where they were the most dangerous. But for some last ditch tackles, blocks, bodies on the line it could have been very nervy indeed. Food for thought at the least for future games. Great 3 points in the end. |

The lack of segregation surprised me too but heartened by it also. I spent 15 minutes stood in the first standing section on that side of the pitch, i was at the front so i didn’t notice a couple of Aldershot replica shirts until just before the minutes silence. We have just unveiled our away shirt which is red based too so subliminally i may have thought they were Dale shirts. I didn’t eat or drink so can’t comment on that side and thankfully it didn’t rain. Shame the section behind the goal wasn’t open for away fans but i assume there will be good reasons for us not being there this time. Lastly, i thought the eulogy for the passing of the club chaplain was heartfelt and minute silence perfectly observed. |

Yesterday was a great performance and it’s a bit unfair to do man of the match awards with this lot, as it truly is a full team effort For example TAR stood out yesterday, getting forward, dangerous, crosses, defensively sound. Tarryn seemed to have a quiet game. Or Tarryn had his hands full with the lively Akpan and ran his socks off for 65 minutes negating their main threat. Fantastic defensive performance. TAR was head and shoulders (literally) over his opponent. First half we cut through them time and time again. Second half settled into a defensive block, for me could have been slightly more clinical when we did attack but that’s asking for double cherries on the top. |

Last nights performance evidently didn’t impress the bookies once more, Sky Bet instead choosing to shorten Oldham after their home draw to Southend. Barnet 2/1 - 9/4 Gateshead 11/4 Forest Green 9/1 - 6/1 Southend 9/1 - 14/1 York 14/1 - 8/1 Oldham 16/1 - 12/1 Rochdale 22/1 28 bar |

Bookies don’t seem to fancy us this season. We were 14/1 at the start of the season but have drifted to 22/1 after our awful start and absolute dubbings away at, erm, York 0-1. Notable others are Barnet 2/1 Gateshead 11/4 Forest Green 9/1 Southend 9/1 York 14/1 Oldham 16/1 Sutton 25/1 28 bar |

I’m going to single out Gordon today, however i could do the same for Ferguson (awesome 3 games) or Beckwith (make that 6 games) First half their left winger got nothing out of him. Ended up being subbed abd his replacement got the same. Gordon was fantastic both offensively and defensively. The one moment of threat in the second half after Rodney had been mugged was stopped at the last by a fantastic tackle by Gordon coming into central position. I think Man of the Match could have gone to 7 or 8 players today and justifiable case given. Pace of play was great, mixiing it up going long occasionally great. |
