From the Burnley Board on 09:17 - Oct 22 by smegma | I think its weird our fans go on a burnley site in the first place then get upset when they don't fornicate over QPR. What did you expect ? |
I went on the board as I was bored and wanted to see what their fans thought about the upcoming game. As I said in the OP it’s only opinion. Opinion leads to debate which is why people post on a message boards? If people didn’t debate then there would be no message boards. This is a discussion site and we are discussing, hence the reason you posted.
From the Burnley Board on 10:30 - Oct 22 with 2319 views | kingsburyR | Don't bother with our boards in all honesty! But most of our rivals have easy looking games on paper so a point minimum is a must. We are 7/4 to win up there on Saturday. I will most def. be on that!
| Dont know why we bother. .... but we do! |

From the Burnley Board on 00:23 - Oct 22 by Seth_Gecko | Didn't bother reading after the "I don't even consider them a real football club" comment. F*cking mong. Anyway, I will be very surprised if we don't go to Burnley and lose by at least 2 goals. Yes we are second in the league and yes we are unbeaten, however it still does concern me that all but two of the teams we've played are in the bottom half and apart from Boro, I wouldn't say we have 'confidently' beaten anyone this season. Simpson possibly missing Saturday is also a concern, especially with Onuoha out as well. Not sure which thread it was, but agree with us trying this Chevanton alongside Austin, hopefully take a bit of pressure off him. As for the title-rivals suggestion. There's 5 or 6 teams that could easily have a good bit of form and be up there come the end of the season. |
Do you really have to say "mong"? Crazily offensive to families where a member has Downs.

THIS. Also, Burnley are just about the least interesting thing in the world. Saturday's result doesn't really matter as I think they'll fall away eventually and if they don't, good luck to them. You can't really be hating Burnley. What's the point?
| Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. Stefan Moore, Stefan Moore running down the wing. He runs like a cheetah, his crosses couldn't be sweeter. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. Stefan Moore. |

My view is by all means go on the Burnley board and there may be some interesting views/insight that is worth sharing and will stimulate discussion on this Board. However where you come across small minded views and nonsense spouted about Rangers there is no point playing that back on here and getting excited about it...
From the Burnley Board on 12:53 - Oct 22 with 2193 views | DANRANGER | Let them enjoy being at the top, they've done superbly well and deserve it. We are a target as we have spent money, we have to expect it and the club needs to rise to the challenge. It wouldn't surprise me to see us lose but I'd expect to overhaul them in the long run although there are some strong sides in the play-offs so I don't see anyone running away with it. It will be interesting to see how Burnley handle this type of game as I'd hope our players to thrive on it. Our defence is a concern even though we've only conceded 4 all season but our attacking threat needs to click and the likes of Hoilett/Krancjar/Phillips/Austin need to have a big impact for us to win. Expect Henry/Barton to anchor midfield similar to Leeds/Bolton games.

From the Burnley Board on 13:30 - Oct 22 with 2146 views | rsonist | If we were in their position we'd all be saying exactly the same in fairness. I think the thing is we have an annoying (to most) level of celebrity at the club with Harry and Joey always in the news (as well as the likes of BAE and Kranjcar) and that sets us apart from your Readings and Wigans who have also spent a pretty penny this summer. To call us arrogant is unfair I think, but certainly it's not the same vibe as when we were leading the Championship in our promotion season now is it? Saturday aside, good luck to Burnley anyway. If we have to come second to anyone this season I sincerely hope it's them.
From the Burnley Board on 13:34 - Oct 22 with 2136 views | rsonist | Kind of hate the knuckle-dragging mentality that makes people want to trump up some imaginary rivalry with whoever's challenging us at the time. It's Burnley FFS, what am I going to get in a lather about them for?
From the Burnley Board on 14:07 - Oct 22 with 2122 views | CroydonCaptJack | Surprising the lack of knowledge about how few of our players this season were playing last season. Disappointing really, but that is clearly the perception. I like Burnley and they have had a great start. I think its possible they may beat us on Saturday but I would be astonished if they finish above us.
From the Burnley Board on 14:18 - Oct 22 with 2107 views | adhoc_qpr | I suppose it's a bit strange that from our point of view it's all change - idiot players out, new players in - mainly freebies, (mostly) new team and fresh attitude. But for others they just glance at the team and see Barton and Hoillett and assume it's the same moneybags team that went down. I can easily see us losing on Saturday but the main thing is i think we're solid enough to be in promotion mix come the sharp end of the season. Do Burnley have the squad depth to maintain a challenge? We've already lost key players to extended injuries (Onouha, AJ, Hoillett) and managed - will they do same if they lose Ings, Shackell and Arfield for 6-8 weeks?

Had a chat with a Burnley fan earlier. Mentioned Kranjar, Austen, Hoillet, Simpson, Okottoa, Dunne, Hill and Onouha. He rolled his eyes and said "those are all prem players". Typical reaction, I suppose from a team with limited funds who are punching well beyond their weight. He did say Vokes and Ings have scored more that 20 between them already this season. Gulp.

Win and it'll be "All that money spent, of course they should win" Draw and it'll be "All that money spent and they could only draw" Lose and it'll be "All that money spent and when they finally come across a team in the top half, they lose"

He'll be OK so long as he has a coffee before the game. Preferably East of Java.
From the Burnley Board on 23:01 - Oct 22 with 1769 views | Stanisgod | If their pitch is as bad as it normally is between November and February, especially with all this rain, I think that may be their downfall, long term. At the same time bad pitches won't help our passing game either. [Post edited 23 Oct 2013 1:06]

Just to clear this one up for you lot: That thread on CM is a parody of a thread made by QPR fans on wearetherangersboys.com. We are under no illusions as to who has the better chance of winning the league, so please don't take that thread seriously. The situation was that we noticed a forum thread that was incredibly dismissive of us (and also really quite discriminatory), so we thought we'd have a bit of fun with it - nothing more. Plus we do enjoy having a dig at 'richer' clubs. We literally have spent nothing this season. Lost Austin and paid no money at all for anybody. Its all just good fun Oh and StanisGod, don't worry about out pitch, it is glorious. We spent all our prem money on it and now it looks like God himself tends it. In all seriousness, it is a very nice pitch. By the end of last season, the only worn part was where the linesmen run up and down the line. Think it is one of those 'woven in fibres' jobs. Either way we apparently spent nearly a million on it. [Post edited 23 Oct 2013 16:51]

Stanisgod - the pitch issues around Xmas are a thing of the past at Turf Moor. http://www.dessosports.com/sports/football/football-projects/burnley-fc-turf-moo The pitch is now a Desso GrassMaster surface (same as the Emirates amongst others) and our groundsman has been nominated for Groundsman of the Year for the last two seasons. There is a valid argument that the pitch is superior to the one at Loftus Rd. Back to the topic in question, those comments on the ClaretsMad board were made after comments made by QPR fans on 'WearetheRangersBoys'. EDIT - Beat me to it Andy!! [Post edited 23 Oct 2013 16:55]
