My thoughts on this weekends game 09:39 - Aug 19 with 3312 views | Krog | After the 1 - 4 game i was disapointed at the scoreboard, yet i felt strangely positive about the coming season. Wasnt sure why though, but after some thinking i think ive worked out why im feeling this way. 1. Van Persies 2nd goal was, brilliant yes, but also a shot that will miss at least 8 out of 10 times ( in my oppinion ) Same with Welbecks 2nd. 2. With a bit of luck we could have scored 1 maybe even 2 more goals. 3. We were playing the Champions, and even 2 min of failure in concentration means goals sometimes. ( Which we unfortunatly saw ) 4. Confidence, Last season Laudrup would have played very defensive against teams like Man U, and hoped on a counter. But this year he seems to want to play even with the big teams, trying to control the game. Indicating he has more confidence in his team this year. 5. Apart from the scoreline at the end i thought it was a fairly even game. Anyway, just a few reasons why im not too worried by saturdays result. It wont be the last match we loose this season, but well def win our fair share aswell im certain. [Post edited 19 Aug 2013 9:42]

Agree with Welbeck, however someone of RVP's quality will hit the tartget 99/100 from there so should never of been allowed the time he was given 2. With a bit of luck we could have scored 1 maybe even 2 more goals. Luck or better composure? Bony should of buried that header 3. We were playing the Champions, and even 2 min of failure in concention means goals sometimes. ( Which we unfortunatly saw ) Agreed, they did win the league by 11 pts last season, always going to be a tough game 4. Hopefully we don't fall foul of being to over confident against the big teams though 5. Apart from the scoreline at the end i thought it was a fairly even game. I think Man Utd were the better team after the first 30 mins but 2 goals in 2 mins affords you that luxury

My thoughts on this weekends game on 09:55 - Aug 19 with 3255 views | TheClash | Defence was very poor for all four goals. I was surprised at the space they had, only Chico seemed to be half tidy Ben out of position along with Rangel and Ash's new boot's had lead in them. We will get better.

I would rather commit to the tackle and just try and go through him. If he makes a mug of you then hold your hands up. But backing off him like that results in one outcome.

I wonder if our "first" goal should have been given too as Dyer was offside when the ball was played but he didnt play it the was onside after. May have had a different formation where the defence was so open as we had to press after they scored. Tremmel would have saved all of them anyway.

Has it occured to you that it may have been Chico going walkabout which allowed RVP to keep getting into the space behind him yet?

Thing is, taking players on in that scenario isn't Van Persie's strength. Williams should have held his ground and committed to the tackle. He kept back pedalling until Van Persie-the best finisher in the league-was in range. It was poor defending, I'm honestly struggling to remember Williams putting in a worse performance than he did on Saturday.
My thoughts on this weekends game on 01:09 - Aug 20 with 2659 views | Dyfnant | 4. We drew far too many at home last season. Trying to play it quicker will continue to make us lose possession more often than last season but against lesser teams than Utd, we'll likely get away with it.

Rvp first goal was definitely Chico's fault...he lost rvp and it was too late for ash to cover properly... if you keep an eye on chico he is out of position too often....still love him though

I disagree with what you've said about it not being his strength. He is one of the best (if not the best) at getting that yard he needs to let that wand of his do the rest. You'd think PL defenders would know not to let him onto his left foot and he does it time and time again.
