The incident in Rochdale 'followed' a disturbance outside a nearby pub between rival sets of fans.
Which fans the flames that the two instances could be linked without actually committing to say they are.

our local paper has tweeted its front page for tomorrow's paper (it comes out abour 4pm today). The story is splashed across the front page, citing the hit and run being a result of an incident between rival supporters at a nearby pub. Apologies if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty certain that out of all the eye witness reports from Vale supporters, there hasn't been any which has even suggested Rochdale fans were involved. Unfortunately, following incidents at Wembley and Newcastle, anything that can be linked to football hooliganism will be for the next few weeks whilst the editorials of "Is the English disease returning?" get written. |
The paper doesn't say the hit and run was the result of the incident between supporters at all. The Observer makes a tenuous link between the two, leaving the reader to draw their own conclusions. | | | |
