Another one gone!!! on 19:49 - Dec 26 by BartRowou | They appointed him because they took over in June/July and had to appoint someone to take over from Cotterill. He had been assistant to SC at the City Ground and the players still there in the close season recommended him. Sacking somebody after a win/loss is irrelevant. If they'd done it last week after the spineless 2-0 defeat to Watford, maybe it wouldn't have caused as much of a fuss because, let's face it, fans are a fickle bunch. Just witness the reaction on here after last Friday's result. However, from what I can see. and from my own perspective, most tricky trees are disappointed he's gone and shared his long-term vision. You reds. |
That doesn't really explain why they appointed him though. If he was simply seen as a stop-gap then why didn't they just make that clear to the fans at least? The manner of the win and the opposition is definitely relevant - if they've sacked him now simply because of the transfer market opening up in January then it was a moronic decision to appoint him in the first place. Why not appoint your first choice and give him chance to put his stamp on the team for 6 months plus? Either the sacking is a shocking decision or his appointment (what was seen as a long term appointment by everyone, except the owners obviously) in the first place was an absolute joke. I rate him as a manager and so I definitely don't think the latter rings true.

You wouldn't announce that to fans though would you? Imagine trying to get players to sign for the club when the manager has been declared as no more than a temporary measure. I agree though that he's a decent manager (applied for the position that Eyre filled apparently) and can quite easily see him being snapped up by Barnsley to replace that incompetent Mr Hill.

Swift action was taken though, following the multi-coloured mauling of the rags in 1977. The yellow shirts/shorts in 1978-9 were a perfect match. Collars and cuffs.

I think the honesty would go a long way...I can imagine the fans think the board are a complete set of morons at this stage and they'll only feel disgruntled at the decision. I see your point about signing players to an extent but would the lure of a much more high profile manager in the offing not be enough to tempt people, not to mention the club's rich history? I think Barnsley will definitely move for him too...an ideal replacement in my eyes

Another one gone!!! on 04:48 - Dec 27 with 1400 views | DiddyDave | Another example of the disgusting way football has become, but it`s not surprising. Suppose Mark Hughes will get the job if they`re looking to get an experienced EPL manager in. I can`t think of anybody else who`d take this poisoned chalice on,but again,we see how the game no longer belongs to the supporters, they only stump up the money every week! It won`t get Forest anywhere though, teams who continually change bosses never win anything, their glory days are long gone, same as their cheating neighbours down the road.

Another one gone!!! on 09:38 - Dec 27 with 1354 views | SuddenLad | Anyone employing Roy Keane as a manager deserves what follows. He might well be a legend there as a player but that shouldn't colour their vision when seeking someone to replace O'Driscoll. Quite why they'd want to sack S O'D is a mystery to begin with, but when these tin-pot owners and buffoons arrive on the scene they think they know everything. The Magpie Munchers down the road will be celebrating their second Christmas present of the week.......

Should never have sign him in the first place Berg as not done anything to warrant a managers job in this country.. At least under kean they played better and actually won matches..

Blackburn would have been the kind of move Hill would have wanted to leave us for. I don't know if he would be fashionable, or compliant, enough for Venky's though. In truth, he's probably just what that club needs at the minute.

Hence why he wouldn't be a fashionable choice. Hill is a good manager with the right attitude to football, regardless of how Barnsley are performing. You only have to look at the club's resources to see Barnsley are punching above their weight.
