The Rochdale AFC Poem. 21:32 - Apr 30 with 2550 viewsCassielady

I wrote this after thinking about our relegation out of the league and penned this poem . I have been a Dale fan over 20 years Im sure a lot of fans are hurting right now but i wanted to try and inspire some hope. Please forgive me its the first time I've penned a poem

102 years they have past with Rochdale in the league
But alas they are no more and now it's time to leave
The Conference league we must go
The club and fans with heavy hearts and feeling very sad
The 3 promotions ,the ups and downs are all the memories that we all have
But we fought to get out of the Rochdale division
The fans and club were glad.
If you think that Dale is done then you are very wrong
We are the mighty Dale we will fight and come back strong
We stand together all as one and always one for all
We will be be back again one day to fight and always proud and tall

UP THE DALE CREDE. SIGNO

Rochdale town, a place of pride
But their football team, they can't abide
No money to spend, no cash to burn
Their fate seemed sealed, no chance to turn

The squad was filled with uncaring souls
No passion shown, no common goal
No unity, no team spirit found
Their fate was sealed, to be sent down

Their manager Jim Bentley tried
But his tactics failed, his choices fried
No strategy to save the day
And soon they found themselves in dismay

With no money to buy the best
Their players fell short of the test
The team was poor, their fate was sealed
Relegation, their future revealed

Though they were relegated in the end
Henderson's goals, they'll always defend
For in Rochdale town, they'll never forget
Their record breaker, their greatest asset

But not all was well, for players Ball and John
Their rudeness, to the fans, it shone
Their arrogance, a bitter seam
Their behavior, like an ugly dream

But amidst the turmoil, a shining light
Player of the season, O'Donnell's might
The goalkeeper, a wall of steel
His saves, his team's only shield

The fans cried out, their hearts were broke
No hope in sight, no future spoke
But in this town, a spirit strong
Still lingers on, despite the wrong

he fans were worried, their spirits low
No hope in sight, a terrible blow
And to make matters worse, the club to buy
Dunphy's offer, was never high

For Rochdale town, they never quit
They stand together, hand in fist
And though their team may fall from grace
Their spirit strong, they'll still embrace

With no money, no top-notch team
They'll fight again, their hopes still gleam
For in Rochdale town, they'll always stand
And for their team, they'll raise their hand.

A team there was name of t'Dale
Its attempt to remain EFL failed
Yet all is not lost
All though at what cost
We'll return like them buggers from Wales

If Simon Armitage is reading and needs any help with his Laureate rhymes I would be happy to help :-)

The worm of time turns not for the cuckoo of circumstance.

Heard a few fans shouting for her to be brought on as a sub. At least I think that's what they were shouting?
