Against Barnsley in the league (the season Barnsley got promoted) a couple of weeks before we played them in the cup (the Trev wonder goal game).

Both those Barnsley games were superb matches.

Spencer’s hat trick was made up of goals with his left foot, right foot and head as I recall it.

He scored a hat trick in the home game against Brann as well and qprnet.com also says he got a hat trick in the home game against Swindon in a 5-0 win in Feb 1973.

Think it was Clive Allen - hat trick against Palace at Selhurst Park early 80s. One curled in free kick from out wide on the left. Crowd went mental.

Yeah I remember people used to complain "but what did he do all game other than score?" But still averaged a goal every two games, you would take that all day long.
