First invaded? WTF are you on about? There have been Russian speakers in Ukraine since well before the birth of modern Ukraine in 1915. If you're talking about the Donbas arming themselves with Riussian help and support yes but there was no Riussian invasion of Ikraone before February this year.
The Russian language is spoken by every Ukrainian but Ukrainian is not spoken by every Ukrainian, hence the moves by ultra nationalists to enforce the Ukrainian language on all of its inhabitants even though Ukrainian is only mostly spoken by western Ukrainians.
The conflict has arisen because of this Trampie-esque language mania and malignant right wing fascist nationalism which the Americans have encouraged from the get go. For years prior to 2022 the level of killing was actually pretty low, something which was put to Lavrov in an interview to which he had no direct answer for, but of course Russia had to launch its full invasion which had undergone years of preparation. Yet again I will repeat, its state TV now makes very little effort to hide what it was actually about.
