Oliver Ntcham on 21:35 - Sep 11 by ItchySphincter | Yes, we were on the decline, but that does not tarnish his achievements. If we’re using rose tinted glasses we mustn’t forget Laudrup was replaced with our most successful PL manager, yet we were still steadily on the decline. [Post edited 12 Sep 2021 10:43]

Our most successful PL manager ruined us big time. He is why we are where we are. Laudrup would never have had us relegated either.

It's a difficult call that. Many people still idolise Toshack but his legacy (well him and Struel, Tosh kept demanding and Struel kept giving) was financial ruin and succesive relegations. For clubs our size, chasing success can be a dangerous game.

If you Monk He was sacked before he did. If you mean Laudrup he was sacked because Monk did the dirty on him as he had on Sousa. At that point our most successful manager since Toshack. [Post edited 11 Sep 2021 22:09]

There were other factors at play though. We’d bought a stricken Ray Kennedy and the bottom fell out of the transfer market. We spent money on the east stand we shouldn’t have as well.

It still came down to overspending. Financial problems are financial problems regardless of where the money was spent. Struel was as guilty as Tosh yes.

Nonsense. We are where we are because we are a club with a tiny income that year after year had to get transfer decisions spot on, with an ever decreasing margin of error. We are where we are because it was inevitable we would be. To blame that on Garry Monk shows a distinct lack of understanding of football in general, let alone our club. Laudrup amassed 24 points from his last 34 games. You say he wouldn’t have relegated us but the previous 3 quarters of a season worth of games suggests otherwise. I happen to believe his sacking and our win against Cardiff the following game saved our season. We looked doomed prior to it, we were rudderless, it was embarrassing to watch. He was sacked because we were performing horrendously and had been doing so for a long time. 6 points from a possible 30 prior to his sacking. 24 from a possible 102 if we go back further. Up there with our worst Premier League spells in our history. He was sacked because he deserved to be.

We knocked Man Utd out of the fa cup the month before he was sacked. Yes we were awful. Seriously. We were still in the fa cup, still in Europe, injury ravaged team, Monk sniping and destroying team spirit from within ,Huw stating the club are looking for a new manager in case Laudrup leaves . Monk takes over and in no time we were out of the FA Cup, out of Europe, just had the league to focus on and the injured returned to fitness. Monk inherited a decent squad built and developed by Laudrup, Monk slowly destroyed it. Terrible manager. Look at his career since he left us.

We knocked 10 man Man Utd reserves out yes. Sadly that doesn’t excuse his last 34 league games. I don’t think anyone trying to say Laudrup is a wonderful manager should be using the argument of “career after he left us” to be perfectly honest.

Yes, I know. That was my point, which ironically you didn’t seem to pick up on. Anyone trying to defend Laudrup by using “career after leaving us” really should have a serious think about that path they are treading. Unless of course you think Lekhwiya and Al Rayyan are clubs of great standing…

No irony. You simply got it wrong. I was talking about Monk as a manager. You thought I was talking about Laudrup. You got wrong . Where did I get it wrong? It was you that got it wrong. You were having a go at Monks record since leaving as a way to defend Laudrup. I pointed out that anyone using “careers since they left” to construct an argument designed to defend Laudrup should actually think long and hard about that path (referring to Laudrups record since leaving). You didn’t understand the point I made, that’s clear. Don’t have to get all upset about it though. But the point remains.

' don’t think anyone trying to say Laudrup is a wonderful manager should be using the argument of “career after he left us” to be perfectly honest." Unfortunately for you your cock up is there for all to see. In black and white. If you cant admit a simple mistake like that, which any fool can make, then I understand why the other longstanding members on this site doubt you. You cant even admit an obvious error on your behalf there for all to see. There is therapy for that, even in Australia or wherever you live. It does take a backbone to admit making a mistake, but surely better for you to admit it over this simple cock up, rather than blindly plead ignorance and fight an unquestionable debate, that will lose you the long game. Your ongoing bullshit will be forever doubted. It had been called upon and questioned over the past years, but no one can be bothered to drag up or look back because they have lives to live but your latest cock up is so recent and plain to see that if you cant even admit that you are truly gone, finished, bullshit no more. Laughable. If you truly cant see that. Then get a therapist, because for all the small battles you think you win on here, the truly big battle, your lack of confidence, socialising and lots more. Truly worried for you. Go on a surf board or scuba dive the great barrier reef. Your big time Charlie, know it all persona is gone, vermoosh, over. Live with it. I await your have to have the last word, never give up, cant afford a therapist reply.

….and after all that nonsense, you are still wrong. I took your weak point on Monk and made the point that it’s a bit of a silly route to go down considering Laudrups career path since he left. That completely went over your head and you have spent the rest of the time on this thread crying about it. What a pointless waste of energy for you.

Why cant you answer even the simplest of questions without answering a question with a question. Its there for all to see. You have messed up. That portion of it was great, the rest (the majority) was far from it and seen through rose tinted specs. As has been said, in his last 34 games he manager to get 24 points, including 6 points from the previous possible 30. A pathetic return and even more pathetic performances called out by everyone, including the players involved. As for being our “best” ever manager, just pure nonsense. Our most successful manager, but far from our best. There is a huge difference. Just like Garry Monk is our most successful league manager, but you would be hard pressed to make a case that he was our best. [Post edited 12 Sep 2021 10:09]
