You know what stood out out to me the most?
"Therefore, I will be looking to hire a new Head of Recruitment and build a robust scouting structure, which we don’t have at present."
The honesty was refreshing and reading between the lines I actually believe that this is someone who knows what they are doing. We know who is on the payroll and needs to be shifted - Montero, Carroll etc.
We also know that they tried their best to keep Potter; a statement of intent rather than just letting him go.

It’s a great statement, far better than we are used to hearing. Ticks most of the boxes people want to hear. If he delivers on it I will be happy.

Taking into consideration where the club finds itself at the moment that was a very positive statement from the Chairman. We were never going to stop Potter from jumping ship with the offer received but at least we tried. He will not have the safety net with him that we afforded him. Such as our defence (especially at set plays) and the chopping and changing of formation etc... This will be the hardest season to be a Premier League Manager and I can’t see him surviving. |  |
