Just making one point of fact - Ben Davies played 71 games for us in two seasons in the Premier League

He was not off after one season.

6 usernames - not necessarily the same thing. And despite that, it's still more than 3 : 1 for him to go.

Can you explain why 7 seasons is "Wow. Just f#cking wow!!!" but, after 6 seasons, you were baying for his blood?

There might come a time again when my mind says he should go. It's happened in the past so couldagain. Are you incapable of changing your mind in receipt of overwhelming evidence?

I mean, seriously? Because I don't think you are and that's why you were not cut out to represent the fans.

Of course I am. I used to think Jenkins had the best interests of the Club at heart but, in the face of overwhelming evidence, I don't any more.

On your last point, the evidence suggests you may be right, hence why I only ever got onto the Trust Board via co-option rather than election.

"As a Club we should know?? Yeah, in your world of the all encompassing superior knowledge of hindsight, we should have"

Also in the actual world of seeing a player no better than ours go for £27m. You don't need all encompassing superior knowledge for that.

"EVERYONE was happy with that. EVERYONE"

Everyone was happy to get Siggy back it's true. A wise few questioned whether we should be swapping two full Internationals for a player Spurs didn't want. Using one of the best young fullbacks in the Premier League, which Davies clearly was, as a "sacrificial lamb" kinda proves what a shit negotiator Jenkins is. Makes it even worse that he clearly thought Neil Taylor was good enough to fill the gap.

Hang on FFS

One was a reserve Dutch player and the other one had been called up for Wales!!!!

A wise few?? You're joking now are you? The same wise few who call shots on every decision or a few different ones that call it the other way, or a mix of the few ie everyone who posts on here having a stab once in a blue moon. You see Jamie, you're there in the comfort of your own home and all you've got to do is edit or shift posts all day long. You don't have to manage people and especially youngsters who actually want to go, like Ben did. He was begging to go. And if it wasn't for Shaw, who as I've mentioned had played in a World Cup for England by then, then the £10m we had for Ben was bloody good money back then. The market wasn't as wacky as it is now.

Great Hindsightology once more.

And........ According to, again, another "few" that same player Spurs didn't want, kept us up for 3 years....!!!

Haha...... The facking "FEW" 😂😂😂

And if Wales were at the World Cup Davies would have played for them. He'd already displaced Taylor. Are the quality of International team mates a factor now?

Stitched back up...

Replaced Taylor as he'd broken his leg.

And Wales, for all their recent heroics, are nothing compared to getting a call up from England.

Nothing. Conor has had a cap already.

The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle - the money spent for Shaw was absolutely crazy money, the money received for Ben Davies (which nobody will really know as it was tied up in a shady deal) was probably too small

Let's fact check this pile of tripe....

Assuming the power lies with him - IT DOESN'T...

he failed to sack Monk and Clement soon enough, sacked Guidolin too soon. - FAILED TO SACK MONK SOON ENOUGH? I WAS HAPPY WITH THE TIMING. FOR ALL THE BLOKE GOT WRONG (EMOTIONALLY JUST AS MUCH AS ANYTHING ELSE) - HE HAD STILL TAKEN US TO OUR HIGHEST FINISH.

HE WANTED CLEMENT GONE APPROX 6 WEEKS/ 2 MONTHS BEFORE HE WENT.

HE DIDN'T SACK GUIDOLIN - THAT WAS THE AMERCIANS.

Failed to sign Joe Allen - YOU CAN HAVE THIS ONE.

failed to sign suitable players at the right time to cover midfield, rb and lb, as well as a striker, whilst making some expensive signings that proved to be poor Baston & Mesa spring to mind, whilst Wilf is still a wait and see). - THIS IS JUST A GAP FILLER, SURELY, THERE'S JUST NOTHING OF SUBSTANCE IN THERE. ALSO, YOU'D SWEAR JENKINS IS THE CHIEF SCOUT HERE AND WE'RE OPERATING ON A PSG BUDGET.

He also overpaid for Clucas, who I like, but record signing - really ? - WE DICATE THE PREMIUM NOW, I SEE.... SO WE OVERPAID AND THAT'S "JENKINS" FAULT, YET EVERTON GOT A GOOD DEAL AT £45M FOR ONET TRICK AND £12M FOR 50P HEAD AND THAT SHOULD NEVER BE MENTIONED - AS THAT, SURELY WOULD GIVE POOR OLD JENKINS SOME CREDIT.

He also took too long to get players transferred out of the club who he must have known were going (Gylfi, Llorente, Williams and Ayew spring to mind) - AGAIN, THIS IS THE AMERICANS. ASK ANYONE AT THE TRUST FFS.

I feel he is like one of the chairmen of old playing Football Manager with the club. - I FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE OF A DEMENTED GNAT.

Thank you for actually answering my post with "valid" responses (well partly)

To Respond:

Assuming the power lies with him - IT DOESN'T...
If not then why is he DOF and being paid a massive wage ?

he failed to sack Monk and Clement soon enough, sacked Guidolin too soon. - FAILED TO SACK MONK SOON ENOUGH? I WAS HAPPY WITH THE TIMING. FOR ALL THE BLOKE GOT WRONG (EMOTIONALLY JUST AS MUCH AS ANYTHING ELSE) - HE HAD STILL TAKEN US TO OUR HIGHEST FINISH.
The decision to sack Monk so late, to sack Guidolin at all and appoint Bradley (I know you blame the Yanks for that, but he is at the very least advising them, otherwise why is he there), failure to sack Bradley soon enough and failure to sack Clement soon enough, could have led to us being relegated on any of the last three seasons — it still could this season.
HE WANTED CLEMENT GONE APPROX 6 WEEKS/ 2 MONTHS BEFORE HE WENT.
So why didn’t he sack him then as DOF ?
HE DIDN'T SACK GUIDOLIN - THAT WAS THE AMERCIANS.
As I said before, he was at the very least advising them — that’s what he gets the big money for
Failed to sign Joe Allen - YOU CAN HAVE THIS ONE.
Glad we agree on something

failed to sign suitable players at the right time to cover midfield, rb and lb, as well as a striker, whilst making some expensive signings that proved to be poor Baston & Mesa spring to mind, whilst Wilf is still a wait and see). - THIS IS JUST A GAP FILLER, SURELY, THERE'S JUST NOTHING OF SUBSTANCE IN THERE. ALSO, YOU'D SWEAR JENKINS IS THE CHIEF SCOUT HERE AND WE'RE OPERATING ON A PSG BUDGET.
Many posters on here believe HJ is responsible for overseeing transfers (the role of a DOF surely?)
How many posts have there been (including by you) saying how it was clear from the start Mesa wasn’t suited to us, he was forced on the manager, etc?
Likewise with Baston and others we have spent a fortune on players who have failed to fit in for us.
I am gutted about Bony, but he too could prove to be a poor signing if he doesn’t rediscover his form.
Many of the signings we have made have all the hallmarks of HJ signings.

Yes Chris he did well getting what was offered for Gylfi and Llorente (though he would have happily sold Gylfi for a lot less mind)
As for dictating the premium — that’s generally the way it works: A club sets a value on their player, the other club makes a counter offer, then a sensible price is agreed. I like Clucas, but surely you must agree he’s never worth £17 million ?
He also took too long to get players transferred out of the club who he must have known were going (Gylfi, Llorente, Williams and Ayew spring to mind) - AGAIN, THIS IS THE AMERICANS. ASK ANYONE AT THE TRUST FFS.
He is DOF Chris, the buck stops with him or he shouldn’t be in the job
I feel he is like one of the chairmen of old playing Football Manager with the club. - I FEEL LIKE YOU HAVE THE INTELLIGENCE OF A DEMENTED GNAT.
Why do you say that Chris and BTW why do you defend him so strongly ?
Genuinely, I’d like to know (we all know what he did in the past and I am as grateful as any fan but there comes a time when even you have to admit his decision making is suspect?).
BTW you do know typing in capitals is classed as shouting, don't you?
You need to calm down mun

One, two OK, so it was another 30 games, it's no biggie.

Also, I read a Bullshit article from you at the time, questioning whether it was a good move and all you could come up with is you backed Huw Jenkins 😂😂😂

There is nobody on here that calls very decision correctly and anybody who had the time to delve back into previous threads can do that (hence why we get endless bumps)

But similarly the revisionism that is portrayed on here about certain decisions and who made them and who didn't and what people would have done six weeks earlier is also similarly incorrect

Some people like to claim they are right on everything and had the world listened to them the damage wouldn't have happened but the reality is that never happened.

Probably because 95% of our problems are caused by that self-appointed fûcking idiot.

I remember just a few years ago when me and you were part of a tiny minority who questioned the 'In Huw We Trust' brigade. This was before the sell-out.

For the life of me I can't see what's changed.

Actually 37 voted to keep him.
However 124 so far have voted they want him out.
By any measure a large majority.
If that were a General Election, the "stays" would have lost their deposit !

I mean, seriously? Because I don't think you are and that's why you were not cut out to represent the fans.

I would hardly say overwhelming evidence but there are points to make:

I want Jenkins out because in my view not involving the Trust in the share sale was taking the pi$$ out of every fan of the club.

I want Jenkins out because from the outside our recruitment of both players and managers lacks cohesion and he is nominally the head of recruitment.

However the problem with my simplistic view is the Americans.

They are clueless about football.

Bradley was clearly their choice.

Who is actually running our recruitment and making crucial decisions? Sigurdsson wanted to go and Clement wanted replacements. We were not buying replacements until he was sold so the protracted sale for a few dollars more saw a lot of potential replacements move before we were ready to buy. Something Clement commented on after his sacking. Again showing how clueless they are.

With our lack of up front funds and generally needing to sell to buy like it or not we often need to accept below top price for players to enable us to bring in others at reasonable prices. Otherwise we become desperate and end up paying over the odds for players.

Do I think the Americans are likely to appoint a decent director of football who could sort out transfer policy taking into account our cash flow position and the meddling of the Americans?

No

That sums up my problem. I want Jenkins out but don’t trust the Americans to get in anyone that would be better than him.

Dear Freak,

Why don't you stop following me around this message board and obsessing about me. It's not in the rules and regs that you have to post in every thread. I'm sure most people are getting cheesed off with your nonsense by now.

Also, just in the last day there has been another 6 people that's voted to Keep Jenkins in in this very poll on this thread.

So much bluster and guff. One true fact. 7 seasons for SCFC in the Premier League. Wow. Just f#cking wow!!!

Gee Chris, I thought we were getting along so well !
Correct me if I'm wrong but the general idea of a forum is:
"A poster puts up an opinion, others read and decide to put up their opinion, and if they do, either saying if they agree (and maybe why) or they don't agree (and maybe why again)"
Or have I got that wrong too ?
As I have posted elsewhere many times, we are punching above our weight and therefore as a small club our achievement thus far has been brilliant.
However (and please bear in mind this just my opinion - other opinions are available) over the last three years this has been maintained in spite of HJ's handling of the club, not because of it.
Prior to his failure to sack Monk, I felt he could (hardly) do no wrong.
His record since then is like that of a PM who does well in two elections, then gets elected again and it all turns out disastrously.
Have a nice day
