It's not about buying or not buying anything - I was at the game and was surprised to read about this afterwards as I genuinely didn't see anything untoward at the time.
The only people who say he had a tantrum were BBC Cardiff, the BBC sport, Guardian etc make no mention of "Sanches storming off" in their match reports, which would be a big story if it actually happened.

Naughton did the same at Stoke last season. I couldn't believe how that received little / no attention either.
Sanches most definitely was brought in with playing him in the no.10 role in mind.
He has the skill to play there, but nowhere near the accuracy or consistency. He could be pushed deeper or wider, but he's a no.10 who's currently very poor at it.
And this is mostly correct, Moscow.
Sanches and Clucas were the intended replacements for Siggy, that much is clear. We spent the majority of the Siggy money on them, and we brought in nobody else. Those are the facts.
Clement preferred to play a system similar to Atletico's (which I highlighted after he took over last season) that alternates between two strikers up top and a 4141 with one of the strikers dropping deep or out wide. That is typically Griezmann, and Ayew has been the player that has assumed that role most frequently this season, just as Siggy did last season. No room for a classic '10' and that is all down to Clement's preferred setup.
But in terms of replacing Siggy, Sanches/Clucas were the players brought in to do that. Whether they play in the '10' role is irrelevant, as we didn't play with one at all under Clement, including last season with Siggy. Sanches/Clucas were quite clearly intended to replace Siggy's production, in a system structured with two wide midfielders tasked with assuming the principle creative duties. They have both failed miserably with this, hints why they have been shuffled all around the pitch (and on the bench) to try and find some value in them. Siggy can be played anywhere and still be a quality performer. These two can quite simply not.
Signing them has been truly catastrophic decisions by our club for on the pitch results, which has now essentially doomed us to relegation. Which is as bad as it gets for us financially. If we had just signed Viera (or Sabitzer/Hazard/Suso/etc.) instead of this pair, like I suggested this summer, we wouldn't be in this position. C'est la vie, I guess.
I'm not sold on Viera to be honest. I tend to put a lot of weight on a player's track record when shelling out on someone. Just like I wouldn't have shelled out 13m+ on someone released by Lincoln a few years ago, and one good season at Hull, I'm not sure Viera justifies the price tag based on one decent season.
Our gaps are so blindingly obvious though.

Viera is 7th in EUROPE for both key passes (just below De Bruyne) and dribbles (tied with Mbappe). The guy is literally a world-class creator and dribbler, among many other skills, and has been for three seasons now. Not one like you said. His stats over that time period:

Maybe because they realise La Liga as a whole is extremely week in which the top 5 in the Championship is worth more than the whole bottom half of La Liga? As Mesa found out, stats mean nothing in a league where waltzing through a defence is common practice.

By all means if you were talking about just Las Palmas penalties and goals then it would be 45% - either way that is almost half his goals. Take that from an expert.
