Kirky's Transfer Rumour Mill Thread 19:47 - May 14 with 123574 views | TheKirkyLife | Since our Premier League survival is now confirmed I thought it was about time that we look positively to the future for those legendary £5 million Jenkins' Specials. Who knows? We may even spend £10 million on individual players. I'll be updating the thread with every transfer rumour I come across. Feel free to read, discuss and so forth. First entry is the bi-annual "is Bony coming home?" rumour. The Daily Mail reports that City are ready to sell for £15 million with us and the Hammers ready to start negotiations. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4503498/West-Ham-Swansea-Wilfr

As we've been bringing them into the u23's now we seem to be targeting younger layers for the 18s

I can't imagine us spending that much money on him.. especially seeing as that position isn't the weakest/ main position we should be looking at. Definitely need a RB and CB (if Amat leaves)..

Agreed. I wouldn't have though this is a priority, there are other areas of the team that need to be addressed including the attacking fulcrum if rumours about Llorente and Sigurddsson are the be believed. One of the other sites also had Nathan Dyer being linked with Boro.

Kirky's Transfer Rumour Mill Thread on 07:33 - Jul 7 by Dr_Winston | Really? We've got Britton, Mesa and Cork capable of sitting deep with Siggy, Fer and Ki all better playing further forward and Carroll capable of doing a bit of both. Seven good options for three places. Midfield is probably our strongest area now. Even if we moved Ki on I wouldn't bring anyone else in. Where we're lacking is out wide. Ayew finished the season strongly, and I've still got some hope for Narsingh. After that the cupboard is pretty bare. Dyer's got a serious injury to come back from, Routs is on the decline, and Barrow and Montero have both flattered to deceive and would be better off elsewhere. We definitely need a bloody good wide player capable of chipping in goals and assists. |
Did you see how limited and predictable we were in midfield last season? We've got 3 holding midfielders in there and not a player who could produce a bit of magic and set others on their way.The last time we had this it was JJS and de Guzman before him.All we have now is steady eddies unwilling to try something different.

A centre back and defensive midfielder with premiership experience. It might allow us to let Bartley go to Boro. He is 28 and would cost about 8m. Could resurrect his international career.

Superb shout, Dameedna. San José would give us a proper DM, and cover at CB. Also would get on quite well with our Spaniards, particularly his Bilbao brother Fernando. Ship out Cork and Ki, and bring this guy in ASAP.

Kirky's Transfer Rumour Mill Thread on 12:44 - Jul 11 with 3241 views | majorraglan | Lots of names being thrown around and many of whom are "overseas" players. If Siggy and Cork go, there could be pressure on the club to bolster the number of "homegrown players" to ensure the quotas are maintained. I suspect this may result in Bartley remaining with the club this season anscwas potentially a driver in Amat moving to Betis.

Unless we're qualifying for Europe sometime soon homegrown quotas are a practical irrelevance. We don't come close to using the full player allowances over registration periods. It's no handicap for clubs of our stature to go into a season with only 4 or 5 homegrown players in the squad.

Premier League rules are 8 home grown players in a squad of 25. In short, the home grown rule only applies to individuals registered to FAW or FA clubs for 3 entire seasons or 36 months up until they reach their 21st birthday.

A winger, a right back and a centre back for me and I will be happy with the business we have done, of course depending on keeping Gylfi and Llorente (which I think we will do)

I know what the rules are. They don't have any meaningful impact on teams that don't play a full European calendar. Most teams don't need 25+ different players over each half-season. Premier League teams could easily get away with a "full" squad of 17 foreign players and unlimited u21s, with not a single homegrown player registered. 8 senior homegrown players isn't a mandatory minimum.

The books are balanced...we must have freed up a wedge of wages though (which in terms of the budget probably amounts to a few mill)...but we have 25 senior players on the books for 25 slots. We are going to have to ship some out to bring some in (that is, if we don't want to waste money by parking a load of senior player wages in the reserves). As I see it these are the players left most likely to be sent out on loan; - Kristoffer Nordfeldt - Stephen Kingsley - Mike Van der Hoorn - Jay Fulton - Nathan Dyer - Modou Barrow ...and these are the players most likely to be sold; - Gylfi Sigurdsson - Fernando Llorente - Alfie Mawson - Federico Fernandez - Kyle Bartley - Ki - Jefferson Montero So, obviously, if we get £50m for Siggy yes we can replace him but if we want to spend the rest of the money on strengthening the squad efficiently...we need to ship a few more out. I'd be desperately trying to flog Montero, Ki, Bartley and possibly Barrow. and loan as many out from my loan list as possible, for as long as possible.

Kirky's Transfer Rumour Mill Thread on 18:25 - Jul 11 with 2557 views | Kerouac | I'd also like to add that Laudrup was right all along about the benefits of having a trim, higher quality, squad supplemented by U21s in an injury crisis. Since he left we have allowed our squad to balloon and wasted a ton of cash in the process.
