Rich is again subjective. Reality is, tommy, you believe someone setting up a company, growing it, employing people and making it a success should not have the right to be pay a high salary for doing so. It's classic Labour jealousy. "Plebs" should never have dreams. Never have the drive to improve. No, Labour mantra is it's always someone else's fault.

No not at all I know plenty of people with their own business , they work very hard and deserve their rewards . And Corbyn isn't talking about that and very well you know it . Now what about the London fat cats , the bankers , the directors of the corporations the people he's talking about . The multi millionaires kicking a ball around while nurses struggle to afford rent in some city's. That's what he's on about You don't see it , you don't want to see it .

They would still be capped under Corbyn's plan, as it was. Fat cats? Banker? Directors? Easy target, preaching to the masses that support Corbyn, does nothing to attract anyone else. By the same token, will Union leaders get hit by this? Or are only some fat cats bad? Conflating footballers with nurses? WTF has *that* to do with anything? Footballers work for entities in the private sector, entities that generate income and jobs. Bit different from the public sector that. Of course I see it. I see it as the typical grandstanding by a Labour leader grossly out of touch with Britain. Then again, I guess Corbyn didn't see it given his remarkably quick U turn. Doesn't now want a maximum income limit. Corbyn's interviews remind me of that hysterical interview when Owen Jones failed to grasp how income tax works. Both utterly out of their depth. EDIT: If you want a better analogy with nurses, then go for consultants. Plenty of consultants are certainly not full time - couple of days work a week, rest of the time in lucrative private work. As in, waiting time for consultancy appointment for my wife was eight months. Go private, a couple of weeks. Clearly devoted to the NHS and not money. If you'd have argued reduce their salary, bump nurses up then most would agree with that. [Post edited 10 Jan 2017 16:31]

So we and all other premier teams pay the highest earning player around a maximum of £6k a week? Or put the opposite direction do Man Utd pay the lowest earning employee eg turnstile guy, burger seller, steward, etc a minimum of £18,000 a week. Good luck with that. [Post edited 10 Jan 2017 16:49]

Indeed. It's ironic those in favour of Brexit are called "insular" yet Corbyn can't accept something like football is a global sport hence competition for "workers" isn't restricted to Britain. Globalisation has happened, Corbyn may want to live in the seventies but no-one else does.

Well, that's Murica to be fair into Britain. We're far more cultured and evolved... Not fan of Trump but his bluster has "job shamed" some companies tbf. Completely and utterly unorthodox. Can't see Corbyn doing the same given he's the charisma of a slug.

Corbyn's jealousy shines on 15:43 - Jan 10 by blueytheblue | Skip, skip, skip... materialism isn't in itself bad. Labour pay lip service to inequality. Why? With true equality, Labour become even more irrelevant than they are right now. Who will the Islington set pretend to care about when all are equal, hmm? Corbyn's posturing smacks of those patting themselves on the back for entering charitable lottery draws when the reality is they want to win money. |
In the 1980's there were opportunities for people to earn well but nowadays it's all become a bit of a closed shop. Global capitalism ruining the planet as well as pitting neighbour against neighbour. Also stirring up xenophobia in this country as well as Europewide. You're coming across as exactly what you are Bluey, a middle aged (not far from retirement I'd hazard a guess)" I'm alright jack". You try applying for, working on and living on the minimum wage mate. It's because of people like you that social mobility is nowadays nigh on impossible with your defence of the ultra rich, people ironically who would look at you as if they'd just trodden in some terrier turds if you ever had the displeasure of meeting them. The greatest trick the tories ever pulled off was convincing people like you that you are well off, when in real terms your just above the tide mark.

They genuinely believe the power of social media and "grass roots" campaigning will get this deluded halfwit elected. If not the next election then the one after. The Fabian Society just predicted that Labour could go as low as 140 seats at the next election. Given the media roasting Corbyn, McDonnell and Abbott will get in the run-up, I think that could be optimistic.

There are always opportunities to earn well. Labour want to dissuade people from doing so because that undermines the Labour parties very existence. Sadly, neither middle aged nor close to retirement. "I'm alright jack"? Not even close to the truth. People that need help deserve that help. Denying there's a section that simply don't want to work or contribute to society is silly - those fed the dream by TV that you can be a reality star with zero talent. Sadly for your point "well off" is always relative. Do I have squillions in the bank? No and nor is that my reason d'etre for working. I've worked damn hard over the years, my family is as a consequence pretty comfortable. Not going to apologise for that, nor should I have to. Never been handed a penny, first in family to ever go to university, worked bloody hard. [Post edited 10 Jan 2017 17:35]

You do realise the richer are getting richer and the poorer are getting poorer don't you? A politician the wants to bring in a limit to stop the gap getting wider. Pretty rare I would say. Politicians saying what the big wig's don't like are bound to be shot down. Cap doffers like you and bluey will only extentouate it.

Not surprising. The status quo suits the rich. Would get the same result in the UK as people sit in awe of those with multimillion's they could never spend in their or their family's lifetimes. Let it carry on though eh? Put it down to jealously by left wing lovvies.

I agree with you that the gap between the rich and the poor is obscene. The problem is that the suggestion of a maximum wage is utterly stupid. Firstly, you are, in effect, introducing a 100% tax rate. If a job is 'worth' say £1m a year at the moment, and a maximum salary is introduced of, say £400k (as an example, but based on a quick fag packet calculation of 20 times £20k since there are proposals for it to be calculated in such a way), then what you are really doing is taxing the amount above £400k at 100%. Would you bother? Secondly all that would happen would be a restructuring of executive packages because of the first point. From salary to share awards. Because more profits would exist in the companies and they would pay them out as dividends. And they would give their execs more shares so paying them via dividends and also capital appreciation on the shares. Thirdly companies would simply relocate their head office function, and employ their executives in a different country for tax purposes. They could keep their staff here, so no effect, but move their senior people if necessary. Or they would just relocate depending on the business, and lose lots of jobs. Corbyn doesn't understand all this, which is a genuine problem. He has no ability to go from an idea, in this case, "we need to begin to close the gap in earnings" to actual ways to about it in the real world. [Post edited 10 Jan 2017 20:21]
