I think it was 27 years, but Neath and Aberavon spent a lot of time in different divisions after leagues were introduced and I don't think they played so often.
I know some people on here don't like rugby, but I like to watch football and rugby and it's good news when the Swans and the Ospreys winning and doing well, it increases the profile of the area and there are spin off re jobs and benefits the area economically. They both have community programs and work with kids as do Aberavon who work with Tata Steel to deliver rugby and netball programs to primary school kids in Port Talbot.
Let's up the Swans can pick up where the Ospreys left off last night and get 3 points at Goodison. | | | |

Used to love the rugby - Swansea v Barbarians Easter down St. Helens. There was a sense of pride in your local club in those days. Ospreys, Gwent Dragons - doesn't compare to Neath vs All Blacks in the day. Then they've continued to change the rules. Why? May as well scrap the scrum completely and what's all this lifting in the lineout about? What does that bring to the game? Wonder what Delme Thomas thinks of it. As for the internationals well .... nothing like it was. At the Arms Park there wasn't a stupid bloody daffodil face in sight, proper singing and at the end of the game off to the casino to get a few drinks in before the pubs opened. Played in that game, i was coming back from an injury and I had spoken to him in the morning outside his house and he was telling me it was too hot to play having had a session the night before.
Fell against me when he collapsed, ashamed to say I was so shocked I just stared at him on the floor, others from the crowd were doing CPR and I just stood there. It haunts me to this day.
Really nice bloke, I played in the charity match against Baglan later in the year to try and raise some money. | |
