Guess we Are protesting at Liverpool match now !! 07:33 - Apr 12 with 6411 viewsSwaneeRiver

Just so I got the heads up, are we holding up placards in the 100th second (to signify the £100 million obviously) that say "Yes, Please & Yanks" or "No Yanks" ( or whatever ?
I want to go on record to say I will not be joining in any protest that involves coming into the game late, leaving early (either at half or full time) or turning my back on the play.
I am however open to bribes. Please deliver in unmarked envelopes to Swanee Villas, Skewen - ensure it is marked "Attention of Mr Swanee Only" so Mrs Swanee doesn't spend it on anything frivolous like bills.
Thanks.
Seems protest is called for now !!

Tommy.. you wouldn't believe the amount of people I have caught winging it in 'professions'... they have the audacity to call me a lazy c*nt.

Very true.

Some professionals are rather exceptional people.

Some simply lacked imagination in adolescence/early adulthood.

The orthodox are always orthodox, regardless of the orthodoxy.

They won't get 75.1% of the shares,no way on the planet do I believe they will.

The statement says they will have 75.1% of the voting rights, not the shares. It does say that they will have approximately 70% of the shares.

The other 5% or so is being kept but with voting rights transferred to them. It may be that under exceptional circumstances the holders of the shares will have the voting rights back but pretty unlikely otherwise they are of no value.

Why don't you think the statement from the Trust is accurate? Do you really think there is a shareholder other than the Trust that didn't know? Or do you think it just possibly may be expedient for a shareholder with a f***off hotel in the centre of Swansea to want to distance himself slightly in case it goes wrong and his hotel gets trashed? Surely that can't be the case can it?

Seriously though Darran - you've said a couple of times that they won't get what is being said. Why do you think that? Irrespective of who knew what and when since it actually doesn't matter, why don't you think they will all sell. Of the ones mentioned as not having agreed, one needs money at the moment and one is an investor who never had any interest in the Swans in the first place.

I believe that there were shareholders other than the Trust who were unaware of how advanced this deal was until fairly recently. I also firmly believe that all shareholders other than the Trust will sell like a shot given the chance. The question is (as I believe you've already raised) whether the Trust should also consider selling.

On the first point I'm more cynical than you - not over all of them, but certainly over one of them!

However, your question is the right one.

As an aside, I'm not sure what anyone would be protesting about as such.

Are people planning on protesting that they'd rather keep a board who have demonstrated that they will go behind the Trust's back and have a primary interest in money at this stage instead of some other people who may do that? If our owners are mainly interested in money and are happy to screw the Trust then I'd rather have ones that may have two ha'pennies to invest in the team.
Slightly tongue in cheek, but I honestly think people should wait to see what their plans are before getting the pitchforks out for anyone other than the ones that have tried to screw the Trust over.

I wouldn't argue with any of that. Everyone's instinct is to be cynical and up in arms and I applaud that. It's healthy and is part of what sets us apart from the "bend over arse out type" like the Vermin up the road. But we don't actually know very much yet. Albeit that what we do know so far is less than encouraging.

Have to say though that I think the Trust has played things bang on so far both publicly and (from the little I know) behind the scenes.

I think they'll sell shares between them I don't believe the new owners will be allowed to purchase 75.1% of shares to be in a position to restructure the shareholding in the future.
I believe that will happen to protect the Trusts shares and the club in general.

Well I hope that your view is correct. It doesn't appear from what we know at present that it is, but let's hope so.

Don't you think the sneaky way they've gone about it sets the alarm bells ringing?

It's like letting your daughter go out on holiday with a rich kid.
All you know is, he's asked her already without talking to you first.
His track record is dodgy and they'll be married before you know it.
... Then divorced a few years later.
